Swallowing difficulties 5 months post-op
Hi everyone. I’m 46 and had keyhole oesohagectomy surgery 5 months ago for T3N1M0 adenocarcinoma. I’ve recovered really well in most ways. No reflux and sleeping well. I’ve gained 2 stone (12.7kg) since my post-op weight (having lost 4 stone since my symptoms began) and I feel fit and healthy BUT I

Double dose of Apixaban this morning
Good morning My husband who has AF took 2 x 5mg Apixaban this morning instead of one! The leaflet with the tablets says if you take too many, you should contact your doctor immediately. I've phoned over to our surgery and told them and am awaiting a reply. I am a born worrier but he is so precious

Ramapril and Candesartan help please.
I was prescribed Ramapril last year lowest dose and tolerated it really well. However when I saw my cardiologist in July my blood pressure was high and he increased the dosage to 2.5 mg twice a day. As well as hypertension I have mild CAD and moderate LVH. I started experiencing a vibrating sensation

Silicone Strips post surgery?
Hey all, I’m coming up to 11 weeks post OHS and have been told by a medical professional who’s a friend that silicone strips are useful on the surgery scars? Has anyone got any experience in using these strips or have any tips on which ones actually work?

Hi ladies. I haven’t posted or even looked at this site for a few weeks now, as I defaulted to my usual stance of avoidance. If I don’t talk about it or read about it, it will go away. I’m in a better head space now and want to share the update, in the hope of some positive stories from anyone with

Rectal fissure - healed!
I'm not sure if this is the correct group to post in as I do not have IBS, however for 10+ years, I had a rectal fissure that just wouldn’t go away. I live in the Caribbean, have a healthy lifestyle and diet. Years ago, when first diagnosed with the fissure, I was prescribed Lidoprocto suppositories

Thuja occidentalis - homeopathy for ovarian mass
[Edited by moderator to include the following: please note this study involved three people with pathological ovarian cysts. Pathological cysts are abnormally growing cells and are not related to the menstrual cycle, unlike functional ovarian cysts. Functional ovarian cysts often resolve on their own

Hi all, new to this forum :) I'm 50y old male thin body, I've noticed that after eating certain foods, my blood pressure starts rising. For instance I did eat roasted peanuts (no salt) 2oz/day for several weeks, blood pressure went from 110 to 145. Stopped eating them, in two weeks bp went back to 110

Anima
I know this is going 'off piste', but I would be interested to know whether anyone here is familiar with the Anima on line system that some GP surgeries are using for patients to contact them rather than the conventional method of a phone call or visit. Our surgery has been using this system for some

pulse
please could you settle a dispute. Two years ago my husband had a total heart block and was hastily fitted with a pacemaker. Since then we have discovered he has Atrial Fibrillation 1.9%of the time and so takes Edoxaban. Nurse at surgery yesterday sat for ages clutching his pulse before finally telling

Should I have a hysterectomy?
The short version is that I have adenomyosis, but it is well enough managed on zoladex/Tibolone that I'm not having any significant pain and not bleeding enough that it is a problem, but I do have lots of more minor issues and my consultant thinks a hysterectomy would be better. I've got the op booked

Any advice? do I take prednisone after surgery since I will be fasting overnight? How long do I have to wait until I can bend over? Does it take longer to heal with prednisone? I'm on 3 mg.

Help needed -- direction of travel
I am an active 79 year old located down in the pointy end of Cornwall, UK. I have led a healthy life except for the onset of Atrial Fibrillation at 65 (2010) and at 71 (2015), the onset of osteoarthritis in right knee. This is now just beginning to affect left knee but is all manageable at this stage
