Colostomy
Dont panic. There is a lot of info on the internet. Type in bladder and bowel foundation. Ring colostomy assoc. Having a stoma is no big deal. It may be temporary for three months to let the intestines heal and will be reversed. I have opted for an ileostomy for incontinence. It will at least give me

Action for Brain Injury Week & new ABI stats
Hi all, It's ABI Week this week, and we've released our statistics into acquired brain injury (ABI) hospital admissions. The results are extremely concerning, showing that brain injury admissions have risen by 10% since 2005-6. Here's a summary of some of the key findings: - There were 348,934

I have been looking into trying LDN and found an old post by MaryF from 2 years ago who is/was taking it and am wondering if anyone else has tried it. If so, I would be very interested to hear your experiences. I have had SLE for nearly 40 years and apart from steroids and azathioprine in the early

Coping when someone you love has a brain injury
My 20 year old son fell 20 feet last Wednesday. He landed on his head. He had a large extradural haematoma, has fractured his skull and has a few other injuries. He is still in ITU sedated and ventilated. He has woken up, but when they lighten the sedation he gets too agitated and they have to restate

G'day, I tried this yesterday but don't think it was successful! der! After three wivies and two children neither of whom who speak to me, (that is until this morning, when my daughter text me). Diet, Nutribullet and the immune system
Since my infection and hospitalisation in January which scared the s*** out of me, I've made a lot of changes and introduced new things into my diet. Apart from stopping alcohol altogether which I've done, there are three things I think have made a big impact: Echinacea and Elderberry tincture (Neal's

Low FIO2 Levels
This is the same thing that happens to me but only when I am in an exasperation, however; by the time I get an appointment with the pulmonologist I have started to feel better. So my FIO2 may drop but not as drastically or as much. So they have always looked at me like I was crazy. There in were the

Mad Me
So, I am not sure why I am doing this, but here goes. I have not been diagnosed with Depression or anything, but I know 100% I am totally f*cked up in the head, and have been since 6 years of age. Yea, I am the cliché, someone growing up with a horrific childhood that no one knows about, through my

Low dose naltrexone for use in lupus
Hi has anyone used LDN to help control their lupus. I've read a lot about this drug recently and whilst I understand it's not licensed for use with lupus it is apparently helpful with some autoimmune diseases and cancers. I saw a TV clip where the doctor Chris Steele from This Morning was trying to

Episodes of atrial ectopics after general anaesthetic.
Dear all. Yesterday I had nasal surgery under general anaesthetic. The surgery sought to correct a deviated septum and remove swollen turbinates. My idea is that if I can breathe easier, I can sleep better, and this would be good for my heart. The surgery appears to have gone well, though I am now

Low Dose Naltrexone
Working on neuro inflammatory research for Fibromyalgia at Stamford University Dr Jarred Younger trialled Low-Dose Naltrexone http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2891387/ .The information gained suggested further research that also included the ME/CFS population would be useful in understanding

Its Wednesday yet again
Since I have been on this site chatting to all you lovely people I am amazed at just how fast the days seem to go, which means I am getting older quicker, but thanks to you I feel younger and grateful for what I have as some of you are in a lot of pain and have suffered so much. but still write on here

Self medicating via alcohol
Am I the only sinner on this site who turns to alcohol to self medicate. I've been to CDAS who tell me they don't deal with people like me cos I don't drink enough, and I'm a social drinker ( even though I drink alone behind closed doors). I'm seeing a counsellor at the moment and keeping a drink diary
