Mood swings
My husband has a decompensated liver. Recently I have noticed that he gets angry very quickly whereas, when he was drinking he was very placid He has been told he doesn't appear to have H.E. so are these mood swings liver related or would it be more likely to be his abstention from alcohol? I am treading

Severe hepatic steatosis
HiMy CT scan says liver has smooth contour, 'severe hepatic steatosis', no focal liver lesion or biliary dilatation. I phoned the helpline and was recommended to ask for fib 4 test but my gp says they don't do that. Just had normal full bloods and liver panel taken. Waiting for the results but I fear

Unknown Liver Disease or from Alcohol?
Hi About 8 weeks I had two alcohol binge sessions over the weekend on an empty stomach. (I only drink 3-4 times a year). Following this, about 4 days after, I started developing hot and cold flushes, sweating, hives and pruritus - especially on my stomach, poor wound healing. Pale colored stools.

Evening all, I’m just looking for some advice or guidance really on my recent blood test results following up on the pain I’ve had in my right hand side upper abdomen. As the title suggests, my GGT has come back very high at 159 (think the average for a woman is under 30) and ALT is also above the

liver enzymes going up and down
I had a routine blood test 18 months ago which showed elevated GGT at 126. My GP told me to cut down on alcohol and I stopped having any alcohol at home and just had an occasional drink if I went out socially. I’ve never been a big drinker anyway. Fast forward to last September when I had another blood

Liver enzymes & blood test results
Hi, firstly thank you all for replying to my previous posts. Your replies were very helpful. I have got my blood test results. They are normal apart of borderline diabetes. It's 44mmol. My Alt and ast is 28 and FBC is 329. I am not sure what this means? My BMI falls in obese category. Doctor told me

dilated cardiomyopathy and heart failure
I’m just coming up to a year since my diagnoses and things haven’t progressed like I’d hoped. I’m still sleeping a lot during the day I try to help with school runs and around the house but have chronic fatigue so I am unreliable to help. I’ve had my Disoprol reduced as the heart nurse said that could

Valproate: new safety and educational materials to support regulatory measures in men and women under 55 years of age
I don't think there is any reason to expect many members to be taking any form of Valproate, but this is such an important issue, with such significant consequences, I've decided to post it anyway. Even if you are not taking it, someone you know might be. [i]

Elevated ELF but 'normal' Fibroscan pressure - how?
Hi All: I'm a 50-something male with a fatty liver. Recently I was given an ELF test and it returned a result at the lowest end of the 'severe fibrosis' range. A follow-up Fibroscan gave a reading in the upper normal range for liver stiffness. How can the disparity be explained? Do I give more credence
