I have extremely mild asthma and have been looking on the Internet about carvedilol which says that carvedilol is contraindicated. I have been recommended to take it and I’m going to have it prescribed.
my asthma is so mild but I even forgot to mention it. I will mention it to my GP before I have a prescription. however I have read that this is the best medication and really don’t want to lose the chance of having that. So I’m looking to find out if anyone has taken this medication with asthma and if it has affected them in anyway thanks

I have mild Astmah and have had portal hypertension all now banded. I take the brown inhaler once in the morning and one at night and use the blue one as reliever if I need it (usually early morning when it’s bitterally cold). I’ve been on cardilvello since May 2023 with no issue.
I have COPD and was prescribed Carvedilol for the same reason. I have been taking it since my last gastroscopy about 9 months ago. My GP was a bit concerned about describing it at first, saying that he was told years ago that it shouldn't be prescribed to people with lung/breathing issues. He did research on line for me and found that recommendations now are that it's okay so said to go ahead with half dose for a month, after which he organised blood tests and blood pressure check. All was okay so I went on to the full dose but take it half dose twice a day. GP arranged blood pressure check again after another month. All was well and still is.
My blood pressure is kept reasonably low which is what it is for.
thank you Eileen for your wonderful response. I have only just discovered this blog thing and it is really reassuring to connect with other people who know all about these things from their own experience. I’m really pleased to hear that your medication is working for you and all is well. You have really put my mind at rest. Thank you so much. Enjoy your day.xx
