Waiting for blood and ultrasound results, suspected cirrhosis and portal hypertension
Had bloods taken February and Ultrasound March and am awaiting results. I gave up alcohol in February which I haven't found too difficult. The sonographer told me quite a bit, apparently pancreas, kidneys, spleen and gall bladder seem to be okay. There is some scarring on my liver but he said he'd seen

Husband in intensive care
I only joined this site about a month ago. My husband was gradually becoming unwell over a period of months last year. Trying to seek help from GP was very frustrating and also not being seen physically due to restrictions, anyway this resulted in him being admitted to hospital in late November as bloods

MAFLD (new concept for NAFLD) cut-off for FIB-4 - science article
"Do we need a new cut-off for FIB-4 in the metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease era?" "In conclusion, the diagnostic performance of FIB-4 in the MAFLD group was not different from that in the NAFLD group. However, it would be appropriate to lower the cut-off to 1.0 in order to reduce

Hi all you lovely lot. Its been a while since I last posted on here the other week, sorry if I haven't replied but I needed to get some help, and I did. I've been in hospital since Friday last week on a detox, that's now my 4th and I hope and prayer that's my last. I say its my last but only I can solve

My cardiac MRI revealed mildly dilated Cardiomyopathy. Is there any hope of reversing it to normalcy?
Is mildly

reversible, given the fact that no cause was found in my case?

Liver pain AFTER giving up alcohol
Hi all - wonder if someone could advise please? I gave up alcohol at Christmas after years of binge drinking. Strange thing is I now have upper right quadrant liver pain (dull ache) that wasn't there before. Sometimes but not always it radiates to my back. It's worse when I bend forward or reach up.

Hepatic Encephalopathy with F1 Fibrosis?
Hi, is it possible to experience Hepatic Encephalopathy with F1 Fibrosis? Here's my backstory.. I'm ashamed to admit I was a daily drinker for approx 20 years (I'm now in my mid forties) as I used it to self-medicate to help with anxiety (terrible idea I know). I must have been averaging around 80 units

Hi there, a little follow up from my last post, si my bloods came back normal and the receptionist said my Dr didn't want any follow up after my us scan so she said it's probably normal , should I book an appointment with the Dr to discuss this? I'm also on Spironolactone tablets for fluid in my stomach
