I’ve posted previously after being diagnosed with fatty liver by ultrasound.
My URQ pain has continued over a year now so I after numerous discussions with GP I’ve finally had a Fibroscan today.
My GP said he was referring my to a consultant under NHS but at the appointment I just saw a specialist nurse operator
Anyway the result were 7.6 KPa and advised this was within which she normal range with nothing to worry about.
I did enquire on whether it measured the fat content of liver (CAP) but she said not ?
I’m hoping the above is good news and shows little damage, I’m continuing with a healthy diet and avoiding all alcohol but would be interested on your views on whether I should arrange following up discussions with GP etc, as I say is till really struggle with pain and energy levels
Thank you

Regarding NAFLD below 7 kpa is normal but it means F0-F1 (Metavir scale so none or very little fibrosis). You are pretty close to that. Moreover at low results fibroscan is not so accurate so you can have none fibrosis at all.
Anyway keep your diet and your healthy life style. If you have any questions/doubts you should check with GP (also because of pain and other symptoms regardless of your liver status).
Hi Export108 - some fibroscans only measure stiffness and not CAP score - this was perhaps the case with your scan. Your GP should have a copy of your results and you could double check with them. If you are struggling with pain and energy levels then I would suggest discussing it with your GP - it may not be liver related but still warrants investigation. Take care
