hi all , after waiting well over 2 years and 7 months i finally got my fibrescan i am more than a bit confused because i was told my consultant thought i had cihrosis, so i have been waiting in total fear to be told i have fibrosis but no cihrosis and my fibrosis can be reversed, but from being diagnosed with a fatty liver over 2 and halfe years ago i am wondering why my condition has advanced rather than reversed as all i was told was stop drinking and i did except for half a beer last birthday and now i have been told i can have a couple of beers on my birthday that is coming up and none more than that but surely with it advancing to fibrosis with only having half a beer then 2 beers is going to advance my condition and end up leading me into a irriversal cihrosis condition , and so thats it a quick scan you havent got chirosis ime going to see you in about a year a couple of beers mentioned and thats it no advice , no diet and nothing else but i had to phone up to ask well whats happend to my fatty liver ? so is that it is that what can be expected from nhs fibrescan or fibro scan , so i am sat here now with no idea what to do next ? i wasnt even told not to drink or smoke or nothing ,,,, could some one give abit of advice please , and thanks for every one who has read this because i am sa there as i have been withno information and no where to turn , i hope no one ends up in my position ,,, many many thanks !

"i have fibrosis but no cihrosis" did they say which level of fibrosis? F2 or F3?

Poor comunication sadly...

About drinking if you are not addicted I think some small amount would not make a difference for liver condition. But I would advise rather not to drink at all. It is a smarter choice I think.

It's good to hear you only have F2, not so great that you weren't given further dietary advice concerning your fatty liver. If you do not drink that much and haven't historically it's likely drinking was not the cause for you to develop f2. If I were you I would not drink at all. I would speak to a dietician and get on a healthy meal plan because eating unhealthy food can cause fatty liver disease which can eventually lead to a higher fibrosis stage over time. Be thankful you have F2 though, I was just diagnosed with cirrhosis at 39 Monday from alcohol, so they say. I have very little fat in my liver but the damage is done. Even though many say you can't reverse it, I'm going to do everything I can to be one of the few that does. Best wishes.

good advice is that pushthrough i have been eating hollands steak n kidney pies and bacon and egg sandwiches but i was never told any different and still have not even tho i am under a dietician who told me to buy some weighing scales so i can weigh myself and she can keep an eye on my weight and yes beer has caused all this so that is definatly a no no , and many happy returns for your birthday , i wish you well on your quest for reversal and i also are going to try as well so i hope it ends up good news for both of us , also a merry xmas and festive greeting for all on this health unlocked site forum !

I was told 2 grams of salt, low fat, high fiber diet low sugar. Cutting back salt sucks because it’s in everything and tastes so good. Fish and chicken not fried. The salt makes you retain fluid/ascites. No alcohol ever again for me.

Hi, I'm sorry that you too are as confused as I am regards getting a diagnosis 😕I was diagnosed with NAFLD some years ago but given no advice at all. Having had a few ultrasound scans I was told nothing to worry about. Then May this year I had a fibroscan and was told I had fibrosis but it was reversible by loosing weight and I managed to lose 2 stone. In Oct I had phone consult with hepatology consultant who said I had cirrhosis 😱

Then my GP said that my blood results didn't point to cirrhosis at all🤔 a month later another ultrasound scan indicated only a fatty liver🙄.

The result is that I'm hoping to go to Hungary to a specialist clinic in order to get a thorough and complete diagnosis with some advice on the way forward.

Good luck and push for some concrete information.

hello mulebag, thats a strange turn out of events for you i have actually been told to gain weight and have some build up drinks here and last week i have been told by a liver nurse as she is not sure if they are liver friendly or not , so at the end of the day i am just waiting for the worst to happen to me i know thats a bit depressing but at least i can rely on that happening . the strange thing is i had no symptoms no weight loss and no signs of any ill health untill i stopped drinking and now i have a avalanch of medical problems i could never have imagined i even struggle to speak or form a sentence now , and people even say to me do you not feel better for not drinking ~~~~ well i wont answer that unless people who are reading this like swear words and me flying of thehandle with ranting and raving or bawling and shouting ! good luck with hungary and i hope you find the answers there you are looking for but also try to relax enjoythe festive season and take it easy !

Hello Mulebag I'm sorry to hear both you and Rambler didn't get the info you both needed. I just wanted to point out that many people with compensated cirrhosis can have normal blood tests. I have it and almost every single thing they have tested in my blood is normal. The only thing that raises flags is the fibro blood test. All the other things you expect to be elevated are normal. Best wishes to you both!
