Dilantin

I do have epilepsy, off of medications though for a year as I haven’t had an issue for 24 years, previously on Dilantin for 46 years. It keen on Darolutimide warnings of clotting and low white cells… of course the obligatory liver toxicity as well.

Diagnosed in 1976 with tonic clinic epilepsy Treated with Phentoin Dilantin from age 16 years to 42 years. Have been on Levetriciam Keppra for 20 years since age 42 now 62. Diagnosed with osteopenia r hip and spine.

Though it was not clear from EEG but I was put on Dilantin 200 mg. It was controlled for 3 years and then started again from 1990. Eptoin was started in place of Dilantin for 250mg. But the episodes continued on and off. Later on Sodium Valproate 600 was added. I was free from seizure for years.

I take dilantin, and keppra. 200 mg dilantin, and 1000 mg keppra in the morning, and at night. Is that okay?

ALSO I take 200 mg of dilantin in the morning, and at night also. I have had no side effects. But does it work for people also. a DOCTOR was trying to cut dilantin due to my gums being bad from it. ( But I am getting a fake plate of teeth)

After nearly 3 years off of phenytoin (Dilantin) I have been rediagnosed with epilepsy. I have been placed on 500 mg levetiraceta (Keppra). I had also just recently had Gabapentin added to my Ropinirole regimen, to help with my RLS.

I also have been on Dilantin for 55 years. Dilantin causes bone density loss. I had a dexa scan when I started Pred 2 years ago Femoral was -2.4 and spine was -1.9. I have been on Calcium, D3, K2 and also my diet has lots of dark greens. I am geting 1500mg calcium daily.

The neurologist told me she was going to stop the Dilantin and put me onto Keppra 250mg and only 30 days of this medication. If I go 30 days seizure free then I'm not epileptic I will not need to continue this medication if I do then I'm epileptic and to follow up with a neurologist.

I've been on imbruvica for 2 years and was also taking Dilantin for seizures. I was told Dilantin kept the Imbruvica from working properly so I went off Dilantin about 2 months ago and now my white count and lymphocytes have been climbing.

For the Epilepsy I take Dilantin. The Dilantin has caused and is causing great problems with my INR! I'm always 5's. But, for me that is fine, my blood is so thick I need the extra anti-coagulation. You must be on Coumadin if you have Antiphospholipid Syndrome.

Phenytoin (dilantin) therapy can lower T4 and T3 levels, but TSH levels are usually unaffected. Cushing's syndrome can also lead to low TSH and FT4 levels. Free T3 (FT3) is measured to be within the reference range.
