History of Epileptic Seizure

I am 60 years old male from India. I had my first onset of seizure in my youth days ( 35 years ago). Though it was not clear from EEG but I was put on Dilantin 200 mg. It was controlled for 3 years and then started again from 1990. Eptoin was started in place of Dilantin for 250mg. But the episodes continued on and off. Later on Sodium Valproate 600 was added. I was free from seizure for years. Gradual decrease in dosage finally leads to total withdrawal in 2010 for few months. Clobazam 10 started in that year till 2012, in the meantime other problems like hypertension, dyslipidemia developed. In 2012 I had episodes of AF. Frisium stopped. In 2016 an episode of very short duration of seizure took place. No antiepileptic given ,but after a hernia and gall bladder surgeryin 2019 I was given Levetiracetam and Clobazam for 3 months. Reason not known. No further episodes. I am now on Ivabradine, Telmisartan, Clopidogrel, Staton,Eltroxin. I have some walking difficulty , forgetting. Are all these due to long drug use?

Hia there, you have a really varied history of different AED use and it’s interesting to hear their variable success.

I know side effects can take a long time to show the long term effects so it’s always a possibility the issues with walking could be affected but it could also be just with the passing of years? Maybe one to run past your neurologist?
