I'm coming for you, Week 7 - and I'm carrying bananas!
Week 6 Run 3 completed today! Loved it. Had a rough nights sleep and was sure I was going to get out there and run out of steam, but knuckled down, mentally took it in 5 minute chunks and cleverly (or not) tucked 2 x banana lollies (sweeties for you UK peeps??) into my back pocket in case I felt like

Free Prescriptions for Asthmatics?
Am I the only one who is uncertain as to why asthma isn't an exclusion criterion for prescription charge payment? I guess I shouldn't be complaining just yet as I still fit neatly in the middle of the bracket that says, '16, 17 or 18 and in full-time education', so I don't pay anyway. But when I get

Can GP authorise dextrose and 24 hour urine test?
Or do I have to see a specialist for these tests?

What explanation to give to bystanders when having a hypo like attack ?
Normally I carry
dextrose
tablets but had forgotten and was looking for some on the shelves . I was in a bit of a state when approached by staff ,I explained what i was looking for and that I'd be better when I got some sugar but inevitably they asked if I were diabetic .

Newly diagnosed and feeling overwhelmed.
So yeah, I find myself with very poor mobility and lower back pain which has seen me out of work since Sept '14, with a brief return to work in Nov '14 before I lost the use of my left foot in December 2014. That brings me to where I am today. Now for the long history into me and my body! Painful lower

Any relationship between taste buds ,diabetes and old age?Researchers say there may be.
The number of taste buds we have on our tongue decrease as we get older, and lower the number of taste buds, more likely for fasting blood sugar to be higher than normal, researchers have found.AS high fasting blood sugar level is one of the main criteria for diagnosing diabetes type 2,so it is suggested

rice syrup?
I was in TX Max today and saw Easter eggs for gluten free, lactose free etc which contained rice syrup. Never heard of it ... so looked it up on google - lots of variations and think it might be like glucose syrup. The only description was rice syrup so I guess it could be any one of the syrups. Does

Hi I've recently been feeling really low in energy with limbs that feel like lead! I have severe aches and pains and very very cold extremities with numbness and tigling in both hands and feet. About four years ago I had a complete health plummet and was diagnosed by Dr P as having adrenal fatigue.

weight gain
I learned a lot from my experiment with diets. Not so much for PD but for weight loss. No sugar and max 30g carbs each day and I lost so much weight, fast, my wife feared for my health. I have since returned to sugar and carbs (moderation) and have maintained, have not gained the weight back. No calorie

Does Sugar Feed Cancer Cells?
Esther Trepal, RD, MS, CDN answers reader questions about nutrition during treatment and beyond: "I’ve been told it’s bad to eat sugar when you have cancer, but I crave it for energy. Should I avoid it completely?" I’m assuming you are referring to the belief that sugar “feeds” cancer. This is one

Top 5 myths about diabetes
1. Diabetics should not eat sweet fruits.
There are no prohibited fruits for people with diabetes. Portions, however, can be limited in a few cases. Whole fruits (instead of juices, for example) should be prefered, because they have more fibre and therefore reduced glucose absorption rate.

DUMPING - Hypo -Research ....good news (1)
I post below an excerpt from a recent published and peer reviewed paper concerning investigations into certain after-effects of bariatric obesity surgery. This text is pretty indigestible but it serves to illustrate that big guns are starting to be deployed on the problem, which is identical to and due

Getting worse; follow-up with Consultant tomorrow but probably no point.... *update below*
Sorry all - I don't know the trick to insert my previous thread (in case it's worthwhile for anyone to read....). Back in November I saw a Consultant (specialising in endocrinology and diabetes) who did a fair number of tests (but of course not including T3 - which I had done privately in February)
