Gestational diabetes - diet/exercise tips?
Hello I’m currently 17+3 and was recently told I’m high risk for GD. My BMI was on the lower end of normal (19) before I got pregnant, but I’m 38, have severe PCOS and have had rapid weight gain during the pregnancy. Just got a letter to say my blood test showed raised blood sugar so I’m booked in

Outlook is positive!
I have had my CT Angio and Coronary Angio and got the results. No blockages or narrowing and no sign of any aneurysm. But my aorta valve is swinging like a saloon door in the wind. Bloods are also all fine - Glucose 5.6 and Cholesterol 4.4. So apart from the wonky valve and the ventricle enlargement

Low glucose, due to low cortisol?
I am low in Pred tapering between 1.25/0.625. My bloods are fine, taking them once a month, but my GP is concerned with the low level of glucose in my blood. Could it be due to low adrenal function? Anybody who knows anything about this? Often you tend to have high glucose due to long Pred treatment

Sugar levels
Hi folks Just had my blood test results back and my glucose is down from 41 (pre diabetic) to 35(normal). I am reducing the steroids. I would urge everyone to have the HBA1C test to keep an eye on your levels

Raynauds Disease, Positive ANA, normal complement levels, I'm lost.
Hello :) I was just diagnosed with Raynauds and tested positive for elevated ANA titer. I don't know by how much because I was not given the results. My doctor emailed me and told me to get more blood drawn. All of my CBC bloodwork came back normal. Glucose, magnesium, sodium, all normal range. ESR perfect

Possible causes of Ataxia
🙂 This is a ‘long read’ and may be difficult to interpret, but never the less it’s interesting. What processes can cause ataxia? The pathophysiology of cerebellar ataxias is as diverse as the various neurological and systemic diseases affecting the cerebellum. Broadly classifying ataxias into genetic

What could cause a sudden spike in glucose for people with end stage renal disease
I have end stage renal disease. My gfr was 11 last March. Through changes I made, I was able to raise GFR to 14-17 through the end of last year. Generally, my renal panels have been in range the whole time. What have struggled with is albumin which has been below 3.4. Most recently, it has been around

Fluoxetine and Flecainide
. My GP prescribed Sertraline for my depression but the pharmacist said I should not take it as I am on Flecainide as well. Apparently it causes the Flecainide glucose levels to increase to toxic levels. What the GP then did was to prescribe Fluoxetine but it is the same thing. Anyone here on both?

Healthy New Year’s Checklist for People with Kidney Disease
For those of you on Original Medicare, you know that at the beginning of each year you are advised about a Wellness Check that OM will cover. For those of you who have other insurance you may or may not receive something similar. In any case, I thought this checklist would be valuable for all to see

Artificial Intelligence (AI) can detect low-glucose levels via ECG without fingerpick test.
Tracking sugar in the blood is crucial for both healthy individuals and diabetic patients. Current methods to measure glucose requires needles and repeated fingerpicks over the day. Fingerpicks can often be painful, deterring patient compliance. · A new technique developed by researchers at the University

Why Exercise is the Real Miracle Drug
Scientists have long known that some of the benefits of exercise are a simple matter of plumbing. Exercise makes blood vessels bigger and keeps them functioning smoothly, which makes them less likely to plug up and cause a heart attack or stroke. There have been hints that this may also mean more blood
