Time it takes to kick in - prednisone vs prednisilone?
And we might try some other versions too if that doesn't make a difference (maybe
dexamethasone
or even a steroid shot). My new doctor told me that he personally doesn't get much help from prednisone, but does do well with the methyl-prednisolone form.

looking for reassurance or advice
If it goes up again, I plan to ask to switch the prednisone for
dexamethasone
since I heard that sometimes helps the Abi work longer. Any other suggestions? His other bloodwork was ok except platelets and rbc were down. As always thank you to this wonderful support group.

Lepto meningeal involvement. No further treatment. Palliative radiation?
Oncologist has already put him on
dexamethasone
and, as I understand it, will discuss palliative radiation early next week. (heavens help you if anything major happens on a Friday night, which, of course, it always does.

Temozolomide Side Effects
He takes 2mg daily of
dexamethasone
which his oncologist want to reduce to 1.5mg in another weeks time. I wondered if anyone had an exacerbation of their symptoms whilst on their Chemo and if it settled down. Also did the TMZ actually help shrink anyone’s tumour or only help to stabilise it.

Good News Update on my Joe
He experiences fatigue, which is remedied by
dexamethasone
on the days he has something he wants to do. Otherwise, he sleeps. No other side effects worth mentioning at this time. I asked for PSMA and FDG (?) PET scans, and was told there is no reason to do them.

Docataxel now
First treatment was Jan. 27, 2021. 16th treatment was yesterday, November 14, 2023…….I feel GREAT…….they started adding
Dexamethasone
on infusion and it is a game changer. …a12-18 hour window of no pain from the DEXA….Normal sequence is 21 days apart for up to initial 6 treatments.

Similarities/difference with Waldenstroms? ?
Treatments tried;
Dexamethasone
alone several months. (Some neuropathy recovery 👍, but with side effects). 2. Rituximab alone. Effective. Neuropathy much improved, but relapse after relatively short period (3 months). Now newly started on Rituximab+ Ibrutinib.

Could this be the start of neuropathy?
Due to the
Dexamethasone
before and the Prednisone since, I have been really well. In the gym most days, and eating really well. I have had no side effects - until today. It's a minor thing, but both thumbs are a little sore.

Update on my father
Things moved quickly from there,
dexamethasone
was called in and we picked it up on our way home. I was in complete shock. He had an MRI 2 days later and a referral to a neurosurgeon, they had a tumor board meeting with 8 neuros, only 1 of 8 thought it was from his cancer.

Drug side effects
Last month I went from prediabetic to hitting 300 due to the
Dexamethasone
I've been having to take for my chemo treatments. My oncologist put me on metformin & it brought my level down, but now I've been in & out of the ER.

Dexamethasone
kept brain swelling at bay. Colleagues, friends and family came in from all over. He had a birthday party with family and laughed and dished science until 2 days before his death.

My question is if anyone has had
dexamethasone
whilst awaiting biopsy and cancer treatment to start and was it effective for symptoms. Thank you for any advice.

Low Doses of Dexamethasone as monotherapy in mCRPC
Are there any recent studies that I could show to my dad's doctor? Coming off Naproxen safely?
I'm also taking low dose
Dexamethasone
. I'd like to come off Naproxen gently and just take Paracetamol. I'm taking 2 x500 mg a day after meals. I'd be grateful for any experience or advice to avoid the risk of clots or a stroke ? Thanks

8/4/23 Update questions for MO
Switching from prednisone to
dexamethasone
before you give up on abiraterone 3. Choose from and possibly combine: Taxotere, Xtandi, Xofigo, and Provenge. 4. Switch to xtandi or Casodex 5. Try docetaxel, which works by directly killing cancer cells, but can have substantial side effects, 6.

Does this look like lupus rash?
Hi everyone. I started with a flat purple rash last Tuesday. It’s spread across my stomach and down the front of my thighs. Then a more sporadic raised rash started on shoulders, back, and then my hands and arms on Friday evening. The first marks on upper body looked like I’d scratched the skin. Yesterday

Atrial fibrillation after steroids
I'm due for a knee replacement in 3 weeks' time, and usually the steroid
dexamethasone
is part of the treatment, as it lessens initial pain and inflammation and helps recovery, but I'm afraid it will trigger me back into AF.
