Possible explanation for lack of hepatic B12 storage
I've seen a few posts on this forum regarding the seemingly inexplicable variations in B12 dosing schedules needed to keep different individuals from experiencing signs of deficiency. Furthermore, it seems that every MD believes one should store enough B12 in the liver for lengthy periods of time without

Does this sound ok?
My adult daughter was recently in hospital with a prolapsed disc and had a blood test which showed Hb of 10. Her GP did an iron profile and B12 as her uncle and grandfather had PA. B12 was 169 and ferritin 13 and HCT MCV and transferrin results abnormal. He is starting her on loading B12 injections

Iron/bloods... confused!
Hi, I was diagnosed with iron deficiency anaemia in May and have been taking iron (gentle iron) and recently had a blood test to see if it had improved. I was annoyed to find that they didn't test ferritin again, just a full blood count. My haemoglobin is now 135 (range 120-150) so bang on. I spoke

Advice on ferritin of 18
So here are my recent b12 and ferritin results. B12 looks ok, but ferritin is 18 (range is 15 - 300).I’m tired and my hair is falling out. My TSH is suppressed, and T3 and T4 towards the top of the range. I have no worries about these levels. Question?- will maintaining my healthy, iron rich diet, along

Interdependance of iron load and thyroid function
The interrelationship between iron load and thyroid function is pretty well accepted, but I post here a paper showing the effect in children (can extrapolate safely to adults I think). It underlines the need for good iron loading to help rule out or confirm hypothyroidism.

Should I get an MMA test?
Backstory - Hashi for 12yrs, 2 + years with added T3. History of blood tests for thyroid and Vits/minerals. I’m not great at taking my Vits/minerals regularly. Iron Infusions - the type of iron used may matter.
Here is a rather long and confusing article. Read it if you need to be lulled to sleep. https://journals.physiology.org/doi/full/10.1152/japplphysiol.91076.2008 In it I found a ridiculously interesting paragraph as follows: "Deficits in regional brain iron and changes in uptake and efflux of brain

Dry eyes & Vitamin B12
Hi, I have just come across an article online which I thought may be of interest to anyone who suffers from dry eyes as I do: [i]Vitamin B12 is a water-soluble vitamin that helps the body make DNA and nerve cells. Iron blood test
I've ordered a full iron panel test from medichecks, but just wondering presumably I should stop my b vitamin complex a week ahead, but what about my iron supplements? Should I stop these as with any thyroid test?

Adding good news
Hi all. I thought I would pop in and share some good news. I have refused to take all the drugs that have been offered to me. But even experimentation with lower levels of hydrocodone and OxyContin have been uncomfortable enough that I refused to go in the opioid direction. What has worked for me and

Low BMI, fatigue, and PA?
Hi again, everyone — It’s been almost a year since I received a positive IFAB test and started both B12 and iron supplementation. Since then, I’ve gone from being a very active and competitive runner (30-45 miles per week, though admittedly that became impossible shortly before my diagnosis) to being

Levothyroxine sodium pentahydrate tablets - formulation considerations
Levothyroxine is reaching retirement! It has been available for just over sixty-five years. :-) Despite that, we still have to accept formulations which are problematic. This review paper summarises in its abstract two major causes of these problems. It then identifies shortcomings in the United States

Can it take up to 3 months to feel benefit of iron infusion?
Hi. After noticing my RLS symptoms were getting worse, I had my ferritin checked and found that it was only 5, so this led to me having an iron infusion 3 weeks ago. I had my ferritin checked again 2 weeks after the infusion, and found out yesterday that my ferritin has now risen to 363. However, this

Question about IV iron for anyone who has gotten an infusion.
Hey guys. Just asking this out of curiosity. But has anyone actually had RLS go away or improve after an IV iron infusion? I got one back in October and didn’t notice a perceivable difference. Pretty sure my levels are on the lower end now, so I’m getting an iron panel tomorrow but I just wanted to see
