Can anyone help me with hair loss?
The picture is from a hair wash this morning. It comes out in little clumps each time I rinse my hair. I have hypothyroidism and had my thyroid out 8 years ago. I take thyroxine 150mcg and have blood tests every 6 months to check my levels. I've been given ferrous sulphate 200mg and take this every day

Anyone know about Globulin levels
Anyone had experience of “low globulin” count when having a blood test? Had my monthly Methotrexate blood test last Tuesday, the GP rang me Wednesday afternoon to say my globulin count was a bit low & with my “Rheumatoid factor”. Of course he didn’t explain what it was & when I asked what needed to be

Help with bloods please including iron levels.
Bloods taken last week in the morning before Levo or any other medication at 8.50 in the morning. I’m currently taking 200mcg and 212.5mcg alternative days. As Aristo brand. Still getting a few palps and still very tired. Would I benefit from t3 if so why as need support as endo not wanting me to take

Iron /Ferritin Level and Menopause
Hello Everyone...Quick question. Is it necessary to test your iron and ferritin if you no longer have a menstrual cycle? The GP who is filling in for the regular GP stated that since I no longer have a period, that I could not be anemic due to low iron/ferritin. This does not make sense to me , so

High ferritin levels
Good evening one and all - and in advance I want to wish you all a happy new year, one that is healthier for us all. My serum ferritin level has gone up even further and I just wondered if the PMR/Pred etc has anything to do with it? I should add that I do have an abnormal inherited gene (a carrier

Low iron first time in years despite supps
Hello, I just had an iron panel done as it turned out my iron is 4% of range.... 55 (50-170)! Ferritin better at 30% range, but still not great. I used to take Floradix and my iron was over midrange on it, then took 60 mg Actiferol (ferric pyrophosphate) in powder from the pharmacy for couple of months

Iron Supplements for those very sensitive to gluten
Hi, I'm being prescribed iron supplement (ferrous sulphate). GP assures me it is gluten free but GPs and Pharmacists don't understand gluten in ingredients. The pharmacy is not answering their phone when I call to find out the brands they have so I can do my own check. Any pharmacy prescribed brands

I'd been feeling weary so had bloods done at doctor's. My iron was low so GP prescribed iron tablets.
I'd been feeling weary so had bloods done at doctor's. My iron was low; it has been for years; (I think it's always been low, even when I ate meat. I was told by a doctor 30 years ago that I was slightly anaemic; I think at the time I was hypo but it wasn't diagnosed) so GP has prescribed iron tablets

Anyone used Vitex (Agnus castus/chasteberry) and did it help or aggravate RLS?
Having heavy n prolonged periods so was researching solutions. Came across Vitex (to balance out hormones) but no idea if it's safe for RLS because when I googled Vitex RLS I read something about it affecting dopamine receptors? Has anyone used this for their periods or any other issue, or can advise

Blood results- thyroid and iron levels.
Hi all, I've had my blood test results back today. I had stopped the vitamins that you're meant to stop before testing but unfortunately I forgot to not take my Thyroxine! Yeah I know! So the blood was drawn at 12 noon, I had taken my Thyroxine at 11am, would that be a short enough space of time

My new iron and thyroid results, help please
So I’ve just had my recent bloods done, last time I came on here it was recommended I increase my Levo dose from 200mcg to 225mcg. As the Aristo brand comes in only 100’s I’ve had to cut the tablets so half every other day with my other 2 tablets. So I’ve been ok been feeling a little anxious and on

Hello fine people! ✨😍 Deja vu! I feel like I’m having flashbacks. Maybe it is Groundhog Day? Or just an I told you so and now you have wasted one year of my life so I have felt rubbish unnecessarily. ⚠️🆘 So, my Hb wasn’t as low as when I went to donate but it was still clearly in anemic range at 11.7

Advice on Iron Supplements Please
My GP has agreed that I should have a blood test to check my iron levels but in the meantime has suggested that I should take an iron supplement 2-3 times a day. Based on previous advice seen on this forum, this seems excessive so I am thinking that I will just take gentle iron once a day as shown on

Hello Restless people I have asked this question before but cannot find the answer. My endo and GP say my iron results are fine and that I am not anemic. However I remember that there are situations where tests seem okay but where the isnt passing the blood brain barrier. Is there a test that shows

Blood Test Results - Comments on levels please
Well I got my blood iron levels back today and I need a little help in understanding where they stand. 1. Serum Ferritin is 376ug/l. I believe this is acceptable as it seems the level for RLS should be above 250. 2. Serum Transferrin is 1.79 g/L. The Lab indicated that the normal range was 2-4. 3. Serum

Low folate - what causes it and what does it affect?
Hello, I recently had some private blood tests and my folate level was low: Vit D: 100 nmol/L (50 - 175) Folate (serum): 9.15 nmol/L (8.83 - 60.8) Ferritin: 100 ug/L (13 - 150) Active B12: 131 pmol/L (37.5 - 188) I was surprised with the low folate because my diet includes plenty of folate-rich foods

Anaemia problems ?
Pooh bear (the wife) has been having a very rough time of it recently. Surgery to rebuild her hip following too many steroids, breathing problems and sepsis which thankfully was caught early. A constant problem she seems to have is Anaemia, particularly after a bad flare. Her haemoglobin count falls

The thyroid hormone converting enzyme human deiodinase 1 is inhibited by gold ions from inorganic salts, organic substances, ...
All that glisters… Not in the least clear whether this is likely to be of interest or significance to anyone. But I do think that the impact of anything on thyroid-related enzymes is an important avenue. [i]Chem Biol Interact . 2021 Oct 15;109709. doi: 10.1016/j.cbi.2021.109709. Online ahead of print
