Amitryptyline
Hi everyone, not posted on here before but read all posts. I have been prescribed amitryptyline for pain relief as I have problems with my lower back. It is 10mg liquid, has anyone had any experience of this drug. It is used for depression in higher dose but is said to be good for blocking nerve pain

My amazing Potassium experience
I know as a former pharmacist that the BNF recommends a dose of 3G 3 times a day drunk in plenty of water for
cystitis
so had no fear from taking the 1.25ml spoonful (quarter teaspoon) twice a day suggested by the manufacturer. I took it in a glass of orange juice and drank it slowly.

Post anterior resection - bowel movements
Evening all, I had my anterior bowel resection surgery to remove my endo last Monday. I’ve been in hospital being very well looked after, pain hasn’t been too bad and each day I can do a little bit more. They took 10cm of my bowel in the end and my gynaecologist said he also got all of the endo in my

Post Lap - urination- overactive bladder
Hello ladies, I am 3 months post lap. I was told I have an overactive bladder because I can sometimes have urinary incontinence. I have urinated in bed while I sleep and during an orgasm. Have any of you had urinary incontinence because of Endo or post surgery? Big hug to all of you!

The female problem: how male bias in medical trials ruined women's health
A recurring theme here, and in many other health forums, is how female patients are treated differently, less believed, less understood, than male patients. Even by female doctors. Although this article does not mentioned thyroid, I think we all realise that it is a prime example. Nonetheless, I hope

Help the newbie
Hi everyone, I’ve just recently been diagnosed (just over a month) after constant running back and forth for over a year to the GP. At the time I was started on duloxetine 30mg and nefopam 30 mg three times a day. Has any one experienced side effects of these? I feel extremely fatigued to the point that

Hysterectomy seems inevitable
My consultant diagnosed me with endometriosis adenomyosis and ashermans syndrome. He wants me to have the zoladex Implant for 6 months then hysterectomy planned afterwards. Feeling defeated and it’s quite major surgery at 32. Don’t know what I’m asking just maybe reassurance.

Sweet syndrome
Thank you to everyone who has replied to my erythema nodosum post. I saw a wonderful new rheumy on Friday who recognised my latest episode as the very rare Sweet syndrome. Another auto immune disease. However my PMR has completely resolved. My joint issues now are related to this neutrophillic disorder

UTI feeling but no UTI
The pain is exactly like having
cystitis
, feels like I'm desperate for a wee all the time. Very strange. Any idea what this could be since it's not a UTI? Drs were totally flummoxed. Also, the monitor was picking up some activity from my uterus - maybe Braxton Hicks?

Need advice about urilogical symptoms....
Anyone else have burning after urination and bladder irritarion? What does your doctor say about this? Could this be IC? Could this just be a result of hypertonic pelvic floor dysfunction? My pelvic floor therapist thinks it is a result of the spasms in my pelvic floor. I am getting a second opinion

Biofeedback?
Urodynamics - now biofeedback? Finally had long awaited urodynamics study yesterday. Not wildly pleasant for son, but he coped very well and liked the gas and air! Looks like not overactive bladder but definitely retaining (100ml) and consultant said probably not botox but biofeedback route (but will

Experiences of Exophalia Dermatitidis?
Morning all, Went to clinic with small person yesterday, 5 weeks post discharge and on the slow slide once more since week 2, although her fev1 is fairly decent at 66%. Whilst discussing ‘The Plan’, it came to light that she’d cultured the fungus exophalia dermatitidis whilst on the ward (I’d only been

Zoladex and Femoston-conti
I have had non stop bleeding whilst on zoladex and Tibolone for 3 months. My doctor has now swapped Tibolone to Femoston-conti but reading up on it says DO NOT take if you have undiagnosed vaginal bleeding ... which I have! It also says DO NOT take if you have thickening of the womb lining which I don

Cystitis
I keep getting bouts of
Cystitis
, I've bought the powders from the Chemist but they don't seem to be working. I'm 75 yrs old, could it probably be an age thing, as when I use to get the attacks when younger they didn't take long to go away.

Magnesium citrate 500 sleep “miracle “
If you have slept poorly over years and decades as I have there is likely to be little belief that one little pill can make such a difference. I have been on a 2 year journey with magnesium where I persevered for ages with the spray, made fitful progress it felt like 2 steps forward and one back and

Loosing all will to live
Hello my lovelies, I have been diagnosed with coeliac disease, interstitial
cystitis
& IBS. I've had a gastroscopy & colonoscopy. I take pregabalin for interstitial
cystitis
& this is more or less under control. The IBS is driving me up the wall!

Pelvic Floor Pain After Urinating
Hi, I have hypertonic pelvic floor muscles. I’ve recently noticed that my pelvic floor muscles seem to mainly start to hurt after I’ve urinated though. I don’t have IC, as it’s not painful to go and no burning when I urinate and no urine frequency or bladder infection. I just wondered if anyone else
