UTI feeling but no UTI

Been in hospital all afternoon for monitoring after having UTI symptoms for a few days but no sign of infection in my urine. The pain is exactly like having cystitis, feels like I'm desperate for a wee all the time. Very strange. Any idea what this could be since it's not a UTI? Drs were totally flummoxed. Also, the monitor was picking up some activity from my uterus - maybe Braxton Hicks? Would that cause me to have UTI like symptoms?

Hi Kitcat. I had the same over a week ago with lower abdominal pains and rushed to the hospital on a Saturday afternoon. Had all the symptoms but urine was fine and they concluded that my baby must be pressing on my bladder (I’m 22 weeks now) hence the need for a wee all the time. It felt like period pains with both ovaries painful and feeling of a full bladder but when you rush for a wee every five minutes not much comes out. That Friday night before the hospital i was up over 20 times - each time feeling desperate for a wee and each time only a few drops would come out. It was truly exhausting. But the doctor said it must be the baby pushing and as to the painful ovaries it’s just my uterus stretching. My baby is sitting very low and more to the back. He has been very active from about week 20 with now visible kicks as my belly moves with them and my husband has felt it a few times now. You should be happy it’s not UTI and if they didn’t conclude anything else it perhaps is your baby pressing your bladder as it moves. If you’re worried go for a follow up appointment and maybe talk to another doctor.

I had that! I can't remember exactly when in my pregnancy (But defs 3rd trimester) I had what felt like a UTI, I mean obvs you're going for a wee every 2 minutes anyway, but it was the same kind of sensation. I mentioned it to the Dr when I was in being monitored at the time, they tested my wee and nothing (like you) then the symptoms just faded. So I'm not sure how long you've had your symptoms but I reckon mine lasted 4 or 5 days max. (Obvs turned out to be nothing and just another delightful pregnancy symptom!) Good luck with everything xx

I had this just before I was 20 weeks, lasted awhile and the docs had no idea what was wrong! Lasted until I was around 28 weeks and the monitor was picking up braxton hicks for me too so they think it was everything contracting! If you still don’t feel right keep going back, that’s what I did just to put my mind at rest! Practically lived at my pregnancy Assesment unit but as long as they put your mind at rest there’s not infection and they monitor you a bit, that’s the most important thing! Xx

Thanks so much ladies, you've all put my mind at rest. Baby sitting on bladder is a good theory, maybe that's what's going on x
