Bad car accident
My adult child was in a bad car accident and had to have
craniotomy
and craniectomy. They are doing better now it's been two months but the psch Dr keeps trying different meds that don't help or make them more tired. They have also been put in propranolol for headaches.

Recurrent meningitis
The most recent surgery, which was a
craniotomy
, was just 1.5 years ago, and I suspect that there is still the occasional drop pf csf and therefore I'm at risk of meningitis... again.

My son, following meningitis and a
craniotomy
last month, has informed me that he has started seeing a large black figure at the end of his bed whilst he is awake and it's making him fearful to sleep. He has been on anti seizure medication since the incident.

Watch and wait
Watching and waiting feels like living with a ticking time bomb although really scared at the prospect of a
craniotomy
!! So hard to come to terms with just not knowing what lies ahead. Sorry just needed to sound off!

Seeking information about encephalomalacia
He received a bleed to the brain and had to have a
craniotomy
. Amazingly he recovered and even went back to work but in 2018 I noticed a change in his walking and a movement in his eye . We were waiting for an appointment with a neuro-opthamologist when covid struck -and so the nightmare began .

Erleada
9/21,
Craniotomy
, removed tumor (PC). 6 months later, 3 lesions, brain, PC. 5/22, SAS of tumors, subscribed Lupron & Erleada. Since then, all's well. The lupron keeps the PC out of the lymph system in the body, the Erleada penetrates the brain.

update / husband
He sustained a severe head injury and had a
craniotomy
. He can only open his right eye at the moment (his injury is on the left side) He now has a tracheotomy and they are weaning him off the ventilator which seems to be tiring him out. He is nodding when asked a question and muttering words.

Epilepsy resulting from surgery to temporal lobe
However, the
craniotomy
triggered epilepsy.... infrequent daytime absences and regular nocturnal seizures. Absences were quickly controlled with AED medication, but took 10 years to find clobazam.

Anyone had to stop work on Heath grounds?
I’ve just had a year off during which I had a
craniotomy
and RT.( also taking steroids for GCA which isn’t helping!) I have just started a phased return to work. Work have been amazing and my return is very flexible. However, I don’t know if I can do it.

I sight needed
I had a
craniotomy
2014. Acquired TBI. My husband is a veteran. He too has ptsd but there is no way he will admit it. I have ptsd too. The horrible world situation is too much for me. I can no longer discuss it with him. It is triggering. But he does not stop. He discusses with his brother daily.

The stress and worry continue
When he had his accident in 2019 they said that they didn’t expect him to survive his TBI, but we were so blessed that after 3 moths in hospital and after
craniotomy
he fully recovered. For all intents and purposes he has returned to a normal life.
