Husband just been diagnosed with brain tumour

My husband has just been diagnosed with a brain tumour aged 32. He had a seizure back in March and they didn’t do a CT, and then no symptoms until now, which he had all symptoms of a migraine last week, they did a CT scan which showed a 6cm tumour in temporal/frontal lobe which they believe is low grade but can’t say for sure yet. He is down to have a craniotomy asap just awaiting SALT/MRI and memory test. We have a young family (3 month old and 2 yr old). Has anyone been through anything similar? Have any advice?

Hello. I am in Australia with a very similar story to yours. My partner, at age 39, collapsed with seizure. Completely out of the blue. Minutes before she had been up a ladder with power tool. CT and MRI revealed right frontal lobe 10cm astrocytoma. Surgery, Chemo tablets and 6 wks radiation. What we learnt was that this type of brain tumor is often in the 30s age bracket in active high level thinking people. Thoughts are with you. It can be a lonely journey, if you let it. Talk to and include people with you is my advice

Sorry to hear that, has she made a full recovery? Did they know for definite on the MRI that it was Astrocytoma?

You need pathology done on the tumor, when it is out. Waste no time

Sorry to hear about your Husband, and how long it's taken to get to this stage. It's an overwhelming situation and obviously worrying for everyone. I was diagnosed with exactly the same as your Husband, although had no symptoms whatsoever leading up to having a seizure whilst asleep in bed in August last year.

In the passing months I have had my surgery, part of which I was awake to prevent strokes. Yes it sounds daunting but you have to do what's best.

A few months later followed 6 weeks of Radio therapy, wearing an unpleasant face mask. The treatment was fine once I got used to the mask and listening to music helped!.And a month later started 6 months of Chemotherapy that entails a 12 day cycle of Meds I take at home that make you feel rough even with anti sickness meds.As well as the drip I have pretty quick, within an hour at Hospital. I am just over my 5th cycle now,I'm finally finished on New year's day. So New Year, new start for me,a 49 year old man.

So tell your Husband he can get through this.If I can,he can!

All the best 👍
