I need some advice please

BrainSurgerySurvivor profile image

Hey, I had a craniotomy on my left temporal lobe just over 8 weeks ago now.

I always have headaches but for the past few days my headache has got worse and has changed slightly to more pressure and pounding.

Has anyone else had this?

Sorry m'love, I can only guess at the duration of postoperative pain after this procedure ; after-effects and healing times can vary quite a bit from one patient to another.

One of my neighbours had a craniotomy a couple of years ago, to remove an AVM, and was warned the discomfort could take many months to settle. She talked of pains around the site for about three months after the op, before they gradually abated.

Have you discussed this with your neuro team, if only for reassurance ? x

I called them and they said I should get a eye test

I'd follow their recommendation ; sight issues are common after brain injury and can cause chronic headaches. Maybe it's part of an elimination process ?

My neuro doc actually recommended Specsavers for a special test (it was 12 years ago so can't remember what it's called). Make sure you clarify the type of testing required... Cat x

After my brain injury I was suffering with severe headaches/migraine like pains and I was given botox injections around my head. This helped them to stop being all of the time like they were, to just being when fatigue sets in. I was in a rehab place when this was given to me so I don't know who prescribed it. Headway is a good source of info so I would probably start there.
