Death of a family member
My paternal grandmother died of a massive PE and cardiac arrest after being taken off of her
Coumadin
. She also had lupus and aPL. Yesterday, my aunt died of what I think was catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome after having multiple vascular manipulations done to save her leg.

Lovanox and APS
My doctor switched from
Coumadin
to Lovanox. I was giving myself 150mg once a day for three months. Bloodwork was good and at therapeutic levels. Then I started having pain in my right leg. I had an ultrasound done on my leg. I have a new clot in my upper thigh on my right leg.

Vitamin K
Note that Warfarin (
Coumadin
) inhibits vitamin K, resulting in a longer time for coagulation to occur. Not a good idea for most of us. The reason why Warfarin is used for unwanted clots is that there is no approved drug to dissolve the clot.

Starting hydroxyurea and scared
Hi everyone, My platelets have risen from 530 to 728 in the last 12 months and heme called and told me I should be on 500mg Hydroxurea twice per day and start a blood thinner, such as
coumadin
, right away. I have only been taking low dose aspirin till now and am 67 with really no symptoms.

Ruxolitinib/Jakafi interaction with Warfarin/Coumadin
Can anyone advise? I am three weeks into a brand new course of Ruxolitinib, and on a long-term course of Warfarin. I researched possible interactions, and found a range of different answers, from zero interaction, to a warning that it would double the efficacy of warfarin. In my case, my INR nearly halved

Warfarin (Coumadin) Success?
I'm currently on Xarelto, but investigating whether or not folks who take Warfarin/
Coumadin
get relief from APS-associated symptoms -- like tinnitis, memory issues, joint pain or halting the progression of mitral valve disease.

Blood thinner meds causing unbearable PMR swelling and pain
Had to stay in rehab for 3 weeks after hip surgery to force myself to stay on warfarin (
Coumadin
). Would be in tears through the night until my morning dose of prednisone would knock down the pain enough to dress for lunch.

AIP Diet & Hughes Syndrome
I haven't resumed taking the Xarelto (or the
Coumadin
my hematologist preferred me taking), because I'm considering doing an extreme elimination diet, carnivore, and wondered if I had my blood tests re-run afterwards, if there would be any change in my results.

Watchman implant
Five months later, after what I felt was a short afib episode, my md put me back on a dose of
Coumadin
. Has anyone had the Watchman implant? I believe you can discontinue blood thinners. My goal would be less daily medication and no additional surgery.

COVID-19 & Abnormal Coagulation.
After 3 months of
Coumadin
/Warfarin one vein was clear but the other one was not. My doctor gave me permission to switch to nattokinase, knowing that I would come back if it didn't work.

"Sticky Blood" - Antiphospholipid Syndrome, POTS, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia - The Dysautonomia Conference
If that doesn’t work out, he moves on to
Coumadin
– a harsher drug. The anticoagulant therapy does not cure APS but it can stop the clotting process and clear up the symptoms it causes.

Patience to Reach the Finish Line
Meanwhile my
Coumadin
and blood clotting factors is an issue as well. But that’s under control. They want to see the function of my heart muscle to be sure I can sustain a surgery and if I’m lifelong worthy to have a new kidney.
