I had cryoablation last April. Initially continued metoprolol and discontinued warfarin. My specialist suggested having the Watchman implant which I chose not to do.
Five months later, after what I felt was a short afib episode, my md put me back on a dose of Coumadin.
Has anyone had the Watchman implant? I believe you can discontinue blood thinners. My goal would be less daily medication and no additional surgery.
I am in the US and had surgery in Massachusetts.
Thank you

I had read that anticoagulant therapy continues after Watchman procedure for three months, then stopped. That is because the Watchman procedure basically is a cover over the part of the heart that aids in pooling the blood.
I have been on warfarin for about ten years now. It is a nuisance to need repeat blood tests but there is the reassurance that there is an antidote in case of an accident. You need to have a regular disciplined life style and be able to tick nearly all the boxes for healthy living. I now have bimonthly blood tests and also take 5mg amlodipine daily. It has not stopped me from following a lifestyle a healthy average 80 year old might expect. When I hear there is a simple track proven alternative I may consider it after discussion with the medics.
