Bristol Myers Squibb have announced that the sale and distribution of all strengths of Coumadin® (Warfarin Sodium) tablets will be discontinued in the United States, Canada, Latin America, and Saudi Arabia, due to an unexpected, manufacturing issue.

If you are currently prescribed and taking this medication it is recommended that you speak with your healthcare provider as soon as possible to discuss this change.

Dear Jalia, at this time we do not have any evidence of this issue filtering into the UK. If we come across this information we will be sure to share the details.

Coumadin is just a brand name for warfarin, more expensive but just the same active contents. Unlike DOACs, warfarin is a generic drug with many manufacturers worldwide, so there is not going to be a shortage of it.

After 10 years on Warfarin I was offered one of the new anticoagulants . Have now been on Edoxaban for 3 years with just a blood test to check kidneys every 6 months. And no need for a yellow book!!
