Dealing with my sister's diagnosis
Hi everyone, I am new to the site. My beautiful sister was diagnosed with GBM in January just after her 62nd birthday. She has had surgery and six weeks of radiotherapy, chemotherapy which seems to be the norm. She has been so positive throughout this but as soon as her treatment finished a couple

When should ADT be given with SBRT?, Some SBRT news, looking at Radiosensitizers in Prostate Cancer treatment
Greetings FPC folk, It has been months since my last post, and I thought I would post something near to my situation and pick your brains on the issues... I am nearing the end of my 20 month vacation as my PSA has risen to about 0.7 now, and I had a Pylarify scan showing one lesion so I remain oligometastatic

Current Consensus on Metformin and Berberine?
I've been studying Metformin (not Berberine, yet). My conclusion reading all the latest studies, especially the large meta-studies, is that evidence is weak on Metformin having a significant positive effect BY ITSELF. There appears to be significant evidence it has a positive effect when used synergistically

Anal sex after LDR brachy
Am posting because I've seen various posts and questions about anal sex after radiotherapy (and prostatectomy), some of which were positive experiences, others not. I think it's an important issue to relay experiences about. I had LDR brachytherapy four days into the new year, and wrote all about it

Postoperative or Salvage Proton Radiotherapy for Prostate Cancer After Radical Prostatectomy
On 3/12/2021, this paper was published in the National Center for Biotechology Information. It is worth considering carefully following BCR. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8019576/

Watch and wait vs radiation
I had large meningioma removed 3 months ago. The radiologist suggested i start radiation treatment preemptively, since i had a grade 2 meningioma. Should i watch and wait or get radiation? Thanks :)

I HAVE HUNG UP MY RUNNING SHOES
It is approaching nine years since I discovered C25k and subsequently this forum and the combination of the two changed my life in more positive ways than I could ever imagine. From a 57 year old who thought that running might be a lesser necessary evil than heading off to the gym to maintain stamina

NSCLC again 18 months after radical radiotherapy. Oncologist says it appears to be the same cancer as before.
Hi all On behalf of my 81 yr old dad. Due to its location, he can’t have the new small tumour removed. He previously had 6 weeks radical radiotherapy and responded well as the treatment frazzled the large localised cancerous tumour. Treatment finished in November 20 and he had subsequent 6 monthly CT

herpes attacks
I am sorry to bring this topic into the discussion as many feel unwilling to talk about it. As very much part of the liberated 1960's generation, those who came of age in the 1960s and had a lot of liberated fun at the time, I found I had contracted genital herpes. Once you have it it cannot be cured

HDR Brachytherapy after the 20 fractions?
Hi all I have recently finished 3 x Lu-177 and 3 x Docetaxel infusions whilst hormone sensitive. I have been on Degarelix since November so no idea what's doing what but but my PSA has fallen from 17.6 to 0.19. STAMPEDE type scans showed I would benefit from radiotherapy to the prostate which I can

PSA down from 6.17 to 4.4 in 16 months
My friend was diagnosed with prostate cancer in December 2020. He was given the option of being on active surveillance or radio therapy. He chose to be on active surveillance. He changed his diet to a whole food plant based diet. He gave up sugar completely. He started drinking a glass of cruciferous

The importance of radiotherapy dose escalation and long-term ADT for success
Both increase "cure rates" in high risk and intermediate risk patients (at least "unfavorable intermediate risk" patients). https://www.prostatecancer.news/2022/04/the-importance-of-radiotherapy-dose.html

Does My Husband Have Chemo Brain?
My husband finished chemotherapy on the 9th April and for the past two weeks has been very confused. He remembers things such as my name, his kid's names, date of birth, where he lives, etc, but not day-to-day things such as how to make his porridge for breakfast or how to make a cup of tea, what he

post radiotherapy treatment
I have just finished 20 fractions of radiotherapy and am now struggling with the heartburn like side effects. Was wondering what are the best medicines or alternatives to help alleviate these effects. At the moment i am really struggling to eat and drink. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Salmon Protein Hydrolysate
New study below [1]. Anyone here using
Salmon Protein Hydrolysate
? FWIW: "A growing body of evidence implicates iron dysmetabolism in prostate cancer progression. A bioactive peptide-rich salmon protein hydrolysate (SPH) has previously been demonstrated to modulate iron homeostatic mechanisms.

What genetic / genomic information does a BMB give that bloods don’t?
Hi. I’ve been dipping getting in and out of this friendly and helpful group since I discovered it I have PMF, diagnosed 5 years ago and am having a hard time getting accurate information about my mutation status. The last two BMBs were poor samples - short or crushed cores. Only found out when
