It's now 3 weeks since my radiotherapy treatment ended and i understand that the treatment continues to work. When i have my next appointment at the hospital i was told that i wont have a scan or x ray so was wondering how the doctors will know how the treatment has progressed.

Hi Arthurpops
Usually there is routine follow up 3 -6 months with a CT scan, and this can depend on the treatment that you have had.
It may be that they will get a clearer picture of how things are at the 6 month mark, as with radiotherapy, this can continue to kill the cancer cells post treatment from weeks to months, hence a scan at 3 months may not show the full response to the radiotherapy as the 6 month scan, however to make sure it would be best to discuss this with your lung cancer nurse specialist , whom you can call or oncologist at your next appointment.
You may have this already, but this link will take you to our booklet on radiotherapy:

If you would like to discuss anything you can email ask the nurse at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org or call our free phone nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200 Monday to Thursday 0900-1700 and Friday 0900-1600
Kind regards
