I learned of my prostate cancer metastasis about ten years ago in 2012, which was four years after radiation therapy to my prostate in 2008, following a urinary blockage and biopsy Gleason 8. I chose RT over surgical as my mets were microscopic, confined to prostate. The discovery of Stage 4 was after my PSA went from under 0.5 for three years to 4, and then 10, my RO told me I was coming due for hormone therapy. He gave me the choice of "continuous" or "intermittent". I chose intermittent, which back then meant three injections, 90 days apart, roughly two years between series as my PSA monitoring gave me timing. I am now (past two years) taking Lupron hormone therapy continuously, an injection every three months.

Long story short, over the years I self-experimented with many dietary supplements and pseodo-cures, like asparagus, apricot seeds, garlic, dandelion root tea, lemon grass, wormwood, antioxidant supplements, etc. Nothing seemed to make much difference except lycopene.

LYCOPENE

Lycopene, as in heated tomato based foods, (tomato soup, pasta sauce, catsup, taco sauce, etc.) reduced inflammation at pain spots in my back, lymph nodes mostly. Also with internet reading, I learned that lycopenes cause prostate cancer cells to apoptize (die) and reduce proliferation. Recent example: sciencedirect.com/science/a...

I learned through the years that lycopenes did not cure, although they did slow down the PC cell division, and kept my tumors small. Consequently, I dropped all those pseudo-cures and focused on lycopenes, but gradually continued searching internet for additional approaches.

HEAT

I discovered something quite incredible but intriguing, that heat kills cancer cells. In fact it has been known since the 1920's that 106 degrees F is all it takes to kill cancer. Armed with this radical concept, I applied heat in various ways, to my pain points to find that the pains disappeared...temporarily. After repetitive applications, they disappeared, completely. My main methods included hot showers, heating pads, and metal plates. I measured temperatures fairly carefully, with shower water temperatures up to 120 degrees, heating pads up to 150, with cloth buffers, and steel 2.5 lb weights similar.

MAGNETS

Continuing my search for a permanent cure, I researched the wild idea that magnets might cure cancer. Sure enough I found that someone had studied that possiblity and concluded that South magnetic fields DID cause cancer remission. In fact, one man with prostate cancer was able to lower his PSA by sleeping on a magnetic mattress for several months. With this bit of information, I purchased some refrigerator magnets and began taping them to my sore spots, inflamed lymph nodes generally. I found that if I could manage to find a good waterproof tape, and if I could keep the magnet on top of the sore spot for at least two days, the soreness disappeared. So the good news was that it worked. Unfortunately, the small size of the refrigerator magnets allowed the cancer tumors to spread around them, so they came back in time.

CONCLUSION

I don't use magnets any more, but I do continue to use lycopenes and heat regularly. Most of my tumors are no longer there. A couple of more progressed tumors have survived my attacks for years. But I feel I am winning the battle. I hope this helps others in their battle against the monster.

Thanks for sharing your experience . It reinstates my habit of drinking a large cup of Warm Tomato Soup +black pepper and to take hot water tub bath each day. (Caution: Too hot water can cause skin burns)

Fortunately, in California, faucets are designed to prevent temperatures over 120 F. I learned through testing that about 110 is bearabe. Some times I get temporary redness. But if it hurts too much, definitely turn it down.

I've done a lot with supplements, tomato sauce, lately heating pads. I also am on Lupron and Xtandi, Zometa And Celebrex. 10 years out. I'm stage 4, m1, PSA 31 at diagnosis, doubling 5 months, Gleason 9. My body is shot to hell from these treatments. Instead of a nice , hairy V shape to a ubiquitous blob, I'm still trucking, avoiding bathing suits. And with the gynocomastia never take off my shirt. Lol

I hear you. Maybe you're on too many drugs? I'm fighting weight gain, P-shape.

Yeah well, I'm on anti depressants but desipramine has been known to help control pain and prostate cancer to some extent. I can't sleep on Xtandi without Klonopin. I know Lupron Xtandi , and Zometa do a tune on the body. They told me It turns you into a pear shaped blob-a-roo. My feet went totally on fire , then numb so it was gabapentin for that. Ironically, I get perfect scores on my liver enzymes and everything else. PSA. 02. It's the wonderful world of pharmaceuticals supplements and a good diet. So yeah, I'm a walking pharmacy but surviving stage 4.

Gabapentin really helps with my flaming feet also. My latest blood tests are the best I have had in years except for my rising PSA. Might be the Ra-223 running around in my blood.

Garbonzeaux profile image
Garbonzeaux in reply toShooter1

Ra-223 has a half life of 11.4 days, so in a couple of months, it's down to about 2% of it's original concentration. It won't run around in your blood for very long.

Third infusion on Weds. and then 3 more if scans come back good. I carry a card with me telling of my radioactivity so I can still fly. Darned airports seem to have radiation detectors now...

Thank you for sharing that with us. I will give it a try. Do you know if it would work on bone metastasis as well.

NecessarilySo profile image
NecessarilySo in reply tox-rays1

I BELIEVE it does work on bone metastasis, because I have totally eliminated one site on my tailbone and have been working on one on a rib bone for several years, keeping it small enough to not be much of a problem. There is a need to use lycopenes and heat intensely, in conjunjction with hormone therapy, and I will try to explain what I mean by that. The effect of lycopenes seems to be temporary, not long lasting. I think it depends on the location of the lycopenes in your intestines. As it passes from your stomach into the upper intestines, it becomes absorbed by your blood IF it has been cooked and IF it is dissolved in vegetable oil, like in spaghetti sauce. The impression I get is that the lycopene-containing food passes naturally farther along in the intestines after about six hours, at which point it no longer works. So because of that, if you are intent on keeping up a high degree of lycopenes in the blood, you need to replenish or consume roughly every six hours. Each consumption then iraises the number of T-cells in your blood and they attack foreign cells and cancer cells repeatedly. I THINK what happens is that the cancer cells divide at a rate that can be overpowered by T-cells IF you keep an intense attack. It's like a battle at each site of cancer cells. If you keep the intensity of the attack up, it may be possible to shrink tumors simply by intake of lycopenes and keeping the blood lycopene and T-cells sufficiently numerous to overpower the growth of the cancer cells. Hormone therapy contributes to the reduction in growth of the cancer cells by reducing testosterone, also. So this is not easy but from my own experience, it is possible to eliminate tumors and cancer cells in bone, simply with an intense lycopene attack. Heat contributes also to the killing of cancer cells. So, i BELIEVE, but don't know for sure, that by the constant attack upon the cancer by the three things, lycopene, heat, and hormone therapy, it is possible to achieve total elimination of the cancer.

Ivermectin and prostate cancer

in Advanced Prostate Cancer my Story

Ivermectin is something that I am taking as I type in conjunction with cosudux and hormone injections, it seems to be holding my PSA level at 0.01 for now, The ivermectin is a form of self-medicating that I have taken on by my own choosing, as is the Baking soda and the H202, and I am taking all of this as I type. But I am coming to the end of my treatment, (cosudex and the injections)so I will continue to take the ivermectin along with the other alternative treatments and see how it all ends up, These other alternative treatments are baking soda and H202 in its liquid form, The baking soda clears all the heavy metals out of my blood system, The H202 oxygenates my body as well as, it has boosted my immune system, I am 66 years of age and was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2010, after a biopsy, my Gleason score was 10 and aggressive and a PSA of 48, I did not like what my oncologist was offering to me, so I went down the natural therapy path, I chose baking soda first, and I found that soon after taking the baking soda for a while I began to notice a change in the odor of my urine, Instead of smelling like ammonia, it smelt of copper, then iron, the freshly turned over damp soil. This got my PSA down 34 but for some reason, it would not go any lower,So I began to look elsewhere for other answers, and I came across a book that I had been ignoring for some time, (one of my bigger booboos)So I bought it, The best thing I ever did, the book is called,"The one minute cure" It costs about $40 USD, but the cost only covers the printing cost, and it is free on the web if you have the time to look for it,After I started to drink the H202 (as instructed in the book)My PSA dropped to 0.02 in three months, and that is where it stayed for the next 8 and a half years, at this time I had a number of other issues that played heavily on me and my life, I was so depressed and I gave up on everything including the self-medication,My Doctors helped me through this rough time, but by the time a came out of this depression my PSA has risen to 4.10, this meant cancer had metastasized and had gotten into my lymph nodes (6 sites) as well as my bones (8 sites)So I am going to be very interested in my blood levels over the next few months/years folks and I will try and keep in touch with you all if you wish.

Blinding Trust and closed minds is a sign of stupidity.

Kind Regards

Aussie Brian

How do you heat the prostate?

NecessarilySo profile image
NecessarilySo in reply todhccpa

I don't have mets in prostate but I suppose it is done by sitting on a heating pad.

dhccpa profile image
dhccpa in reply toNecessarilySo

I was thinking of the tumor material in the prostate, if one has never had it removed. That material may not be termed metastatic.

Another possibility for heat would be to do your own hot stone therapy. The ovens they use are fairly cheap.

NecessarilySo profile image
NecessarilySo in reply toGraham49

I'm not too knowledgeable about heat therapy but I think there is a different wavelength of infrared waves created by different materials. So heated stones might be different from heated steel. I have not tried stones. I know steel works. And heat is heat. Temperature is what kills cancer cells. So as far as I know, the type of heat is not so important as the temperature. There are many ways to heat. I have sat in a car on hot days, just to see what it is like. I limit the time doing that. Hot springs I have not tried. But how hot are they?

CAMPSOUPS profile image
CAMPSOUPS

Not sure the human body tissues can tolerate 106F temperature. You are likely not getting that temperature to the metastasis. The body has protection against external temperature reaching deep into the tissue and bone. Burning your skin is the first protection against foolishly trying to generate a temp of 106 in your bones or lymph nodes.

Bone metastasis damage surrounding tissue and depending on severity damage ligaments as well. That has occurred with me (tissue and ligaments and loss of range of motion from past active bone metastasis).

As with any injury to tissue or ligaments heat treatments have value as I have found as well.

NecessarilySo profile image
NecessarilySo in reply toCAMPSOUPS

I have had no problems resulting from extended higher temperatures. I have used 110-120 degree showers, for half a minute to minute durations. I have used hot steel plates wrapped in fabric, up to 140 degrees, for similar durations, and I have slept on top of heating pads of 140 degrees F, for over an hour. Of course I avoid burning myself, backing off it foo hot.

Also, there is a theory floating about that before discovery of antibiotics, people used to sometimes have fevers of 106 degrees F. The theory goes on to suggest that we have much more cancer nowadays because of antibiotics preventing fevers.

And furthermore, people in wagon trains crossed desserts in 120 degrees, withstanding high temperatures. It could be that people that grow up in warmer areas might develop more resistance to high temperatures. As a kid my family survived days of intense heat without air conditioning. We played in the water, garden hoses, etc.

You lost me.A medical degree would go a long way in eliminating all your "maybe's".

Ask your Dr. if the brain can withstand a temperature of 106F.

Ask your Dr. if you can achieve a temperature of 106F at the lymph nodes and bones without burning yourself.

As with sport injuries or any injury to tissue or ligaments heat treatments have value as I have found as well. Sauna's, Whirlpools, heatpads, etc.

How about saunas?

NecessarilySo profile image
NecessarilySo in reply toBlueslover

I bought a personal portable sauna online for around $200, 2 years ago. I use it once a week for 25 minutes at 130 degrees. Not sure that it works at deep levels such as organs. I can feel that it works down below the surface of the skin maybe an inch. The lungs intake cool air and cool the body. For deeper heat I use steel plates wrapped in a towel, at localized areas that I feel pain which I suspect is from cancer. A steel weight, 2.5 lbs, will gradually cool from 130 degrees to 110 degrees over a fifteen minute period. With a towel the skin temperature can be kept below 120. I have never burned myself although at times I get kind of reddish skin for a little while.

Thank you for sharing your daring lycopene experience with us. There are a lot of research that confirm lycopene (as little as 6 mg a day) hampers metastasize of cancer cells. I down 1500 mg Cayenne pepper with a big spoon of tomato paste every morning and evening after I have eaten. I take my cayenne pepper in capsule form.

I live in Mexico, in a State where the license plates used to bear a tomato emblem. I buy 3 - 6 kilos of tomato/ week to make soups, sofrito, salsa and huevos rancheros. My system craves tomatoes in any form. Although my PSA seems to rapidly outmaneuver Casodex Lupron, Zytiga, Enzalutamide, Docytaxel and carblatin. I do not have any mets.God Bless the Tomato.
