Anyone on here have bile acid malabsorption if so wat medication are yous on and do yous get really bad stomach pains even though on medication as I have bam on colesevelam but still get horrible stomach pain I have ibs aswell and docs are saying it's overlapping eachother watever that is supposed to

I've been researching other cholesterol lowering medication options and many sites (including the Mayo Clinic) list bile acid sequestrants - including Cholestyramine and Colesevelam as being effective. Anyone here on these drugs for cholesterol? Any tips or advice?

My pharmacist told me colesevelam can help. Has anyone here tried it, and was it effective? I'm at my wits end with incessant scratching.

I have tried colesevelam but cannot tolerate it. My professor has long suspected that I also had sibo. I had a hydrogen breath test which was negative but I also had a small bowel aspiration which was positive for sibo. so I had a week course of antibiotics.

Got diagnosed with bile acid malabsorption over a year ago terrible pain before and after bowel movements that lasts a good few hours seeing a different doctor at my surgery he said he could be the bile salts aggravating my colon so i have to up the colesevelam to 2 a day instead of 1 if that dont help

I am a male retired now but I have no gallbladder and suffer from what I believe is BAM, my obesity doesn't help ..but since I have been taking Colesevelam my bowels are more regular where before I had bad diarehea. I hope we find more info on this channel.

I was given a box of colesevelam at some point which I have already tried and didn't help/was hard to take. So currently that is my only option unless I try and track down the discontinued meds. That coupled with my litany of other health issues, 2024 is looking to be FUN!

She recommended that i take 1 colesevelam a day instead of 3 to maybe stop the constipation and is going to get the doctors to do a prescription for duloxetine she said would help with stress and good for nerve pain anyone tryed these ?

I have bile acid malabsorption i take 3 colesevelam a day after meals still getting alot of stomach pain my doctor has said up them to 6 tablets a day 2 after each meal now just wondering if the 6 tablets will work better then the 3 as they are hard to swallow so dont want to take the 6 if they not going

I am on colesevelam for bile acid malabsorption and all these tablets do is make me constipated i know they is alternatives to these tablets and thinking about changing but will the others do the same constant belly ache i do take laxitives to make me go but i cant live my life like this ,

I take 150mg levothyroxine, Stelara 90mg injection for crohns disease, Atorvastatin 20mg, Ramipril 2.5mg, Lercanidipine 20mg, Colesevelam 625mg and eyedrops for dry eyes. These medications are taken at different times from the thyroxine.

I was colesevelam (I tried the other drug for it and couldn't take that either) for BAM but couldn't handle it- also it didn't seem to be making any difference. I ended up just being told that I should take a whole load of imodium every day. I don't do that - but I do take it as and when.

I also take colesevelam (for Bile Acid Malabsorption) which I think can have a detrimental effect on vitamin levels etc. Any other suggestions? - thanks so much to you all, your input is very much appreciated. Tillyxx
