27 Things You Understand Only If You Live with Chronic Pain
‘People believe that they “understand chronic pain” because they have also felt pain but it's a completely different thing when it's day in and day out for years.’
Chronic Pain
If you’re reading this, you likely already know that there is a large — but largely silent — problem of chronic pain

How should I feel after a lobectomy?
I had an upper right lobectomy 6 months ago (Robot/VAT I believe it’s called). Should I be feeling “normal” now. Currently, I have pain below my breasts for which I take over-the-counter Percogesic. That works pretty well. And, my lungs don’t feel normal. I would describe them as feeling tight.

Finding things hard to process after lung cancer and chemo
I am week 10 post op after right lobectomy and have just finished 2 cycles of chemo with 2 cycles to go . Has anyone else been through this treatment and how did you feel at this point. I am so angry and frustrated with my body at the moment.

Cavitating lesion
I had a lobectomy 9 years ago and (foolishly) thought I would have no more problems as all my scans since surgery have been clear. Breathing has always been a problem due to emphysema, but has lately got worse - X-rays, CT Scan and now PET scan show I have a 5cm "cavitating lesion" in that same lung

Lung cancer spread to bowel?
Hi... me again... So: Dad had upper right lobectomy December 2019 (T1C L0). There has been question about mediastinal lymph nodes since August 2019 but 4 separate biopsies returned negative, so continued to monitor. Check up CT has shown considerable growth in lymph nodes since February, so he had to

Post lobectomy hernia
I had the upper right lobectomy four weeks ago and am very grateful that there was no spread and am now at this time clear, unfortunately I have now got a hernia from the main incision site. I am told it will resolve itself, when I am out and about if I sneeze of cough I have to grab my side, it

After Surgery Report - OC recurrence
Hi All, I received your messages as I have been home from the hospital for a week and post surgery for two weeks. It was a really rough time but good news, I didn't have to have a bag, ie: illeostomy or colostomy. Mass was attached to small intestine and so they cut out a small piece and reattached

Newbie looking for advice
Hi, I'm about to have a lower left lobectomy. I'm a very fit 67 year old that runs and cylcles. I was wondering if there are any more runners on here that have had a similar operation? How long was you in hospital and how long after did you start running again?

One day at a time.
I haven't posted for awhile but I have been reading other posts. My one MRI and other test found no sign of cancer for which I am grateful. It is now 17 months since my lobectomy and 11 months since the completion of my chemotherapy. Friends ask me if I think about the cancer and the answer is NO

Shielding before and after lung surgery
I am waiting to have lung surgery a lobectomy. Hoping to get a surgery date in next 2 weeks, as already cancelled once. I spoke to my doctor about shielding and she said I couldn’t get a shielding letter as this is only for people currently getting cancer treatment such as chemotherapy (I have a carcinoid

Diet with a colostomy
Hi everybody I was interested to see if anybody had any idea of how to eat a controlled diet with a stoma. [Edited by moderator] Greens I’m unable to eat with my stoma but I’m thinking maybe I could make a smoothie of some sort to help? Does anybody have any other advice of what I may be able to eat

Coughing
Did anyone else experience coughing after 7 days from right lobectomy. It seems to be starting from my stomach. I thought it might have been the beta blockers they gave me for AF after op but I didn’t take any yesterday and I am still coughing today

Appalling bedside manner
This is a rant and call for advice My Mum has been admitted with a bowel blockage, 2nd time in 8 days. She was an emergency admission to her local hosp. She was managed well over weekend. Yesterday am a bowel surgeon came to examine her, the dr on call for that team. I get a call from Mum after that

Colostomy due to Ovarian Cancer
Has anyone had to get an ostomy because of a tumor? If so how long did you have it? Was it permanent or reversed? Are you done with treatment?
