Lung cancer spread to bowel?

Hi... me again...

So: Dad had upper right lobectomy December 2019 (T1C L0). There has been question about mediastinal lymph nodes since August 2019 but 4 separate biopsies returned negative, so continued to monitor. Check up CT has shown considerable growth in lymph nodes since February, so he had to have EBUS and PET scan, with potential Chemo and Radio/ Immunotherapy based on results.

Update: He had the PET Scan/ EBUS. The EBUS came back NEGATIVE for a 5th time?! but the PET scan has lit up once again in the same area (the MDT meeting are baffled). Now however the PET scan has lit up in his bowel also :(

The nurse specialist said they're not saying it's cancer, it could be a polyp but as it has lit up they need to investigate. He has 0 symptoms... no change in bowel habits or anything. Have we any hope this may just be a polyp? We could really use some good news.

Thanks as always for listening to me ramble, it's nice to just have somewhere to get everything out in writing.

Hi ALCLFC. My husband had a PET scan following his lung cancer diagnosis. It glowed at the end of his bowel & the gastro consultant thought cancer. He had a sigmoidoscopy which confirmed it was diverticulitis. So try not to worry yet. Easier said than done.

Very sadly my husband passed away on 22nd July, after making a great recovery from the lung op he developed secondary brain mets & unfortunately his first & only chemo/immunotherapy treatment weakened his entire body. I’m heartbroken. So sorry to have to tell you this after my positive post re the PET scan. Xx
