One word of caution. A course of high-dose supplements given for at least three months will resolve many deficiencies but, unless diets/medication/underlying conditions change the problem is likely to recur. Many people will require lifelong supplements or, at the very least, future testing to check

Pericarditis and pericardial effusions
Hi all. Just looking for some shared general experiences with mild pericarditis and pericardial effusions, any things that trigger it and any things that help it? Ive been put on colchicine and wondered for those taking it how long it takes to kick in with you and if you still get flares whilst taking

Diarrhoea caused by Colchicine after ablation
Hi I have recently had a surgical ablation. Since my procedure I have been taking Colchicine which causes a quite severe diarrhoea to me. Has anyone had a similar experience after an ablation and can anyone suggest something to stop it? Thank a lot for all your suggestions and thoughts. x

Gout treatment
Would be grateful for any insight on this one. I suffer from gout which is probably due to my stage 3 kidney disease. I have recently been prescribed Allupurinol. But I am putting off taking it as I read that it can cause new gout flare ups when you take it at first. Having just emerged from a series

Things might be looking up?
Just an update... Following a flare up of suspected pericarditis (Following myocarditis) recently I was put back on colchicine about 4 weeks ago. The pain is less frequent, and less severe. I'm sleeping much better, and I can sit back on the sofa and lie on my back in bed - if only for a short while

Coping with M.I and post Pericarditis
I suffered from Myocardial Infraction on 7th March 2023. Two weeks ago I started feeling unwell. Diziness, shortness of breath, pain in my upper left handside of my chest, pain went/go to bed, fatigue. I described these symptoms to my cardio nurse who then contacted a Cardiologist who said that

Next steps...
Had a consultation with a cardiologist from the private sector today... the good news is that he doesn't believe my symptoms are heart failure! So working diagnosis is that I've a flare up of pericarditis and need to start back on colchicine, and he will write to my GP and nhs consultant to request I

Hi beautiful people. I hope that you are all keeping safe and warm in this cold snap. Finlay just loves the snow. He races and skids around the garden, digging, rolling and eating it, then in fir a cuddle to warm up, He has definitely brought the joy back to our lives. I had my first Rheumatology appointment

Reactions to Antibiotics and unable to treat UTI/Prostatitis
Hello all, I'll try to keep this as short as possible! Background: Vegan since 2012, vegetarian from 2007. I stopped multivitamin that contained 160 mcg of B12 in July 2021 until late July 2022. Dietary intake 1 mcg b12 /day for a year (swapped out soy milk for another version and it wasn't fortified

Hello! I would like some advice and support/reassurance about my current situation. I had pericarditis a year and a half ago following C word, which resolved completely. I was fully well and due to be discharged by the cardiologist in my next appointment(next week). 4weeks ago, I took the V word and

Interesting Presentation by Dr Silver re long term survival on Interferons
https://www.vjhemonc.com/video/interferon-in-polycythemia-vera-long-term-experience-from-a-single-center/ He says he would take Colchicine as well as interferons! I’ll ask my Hems next appointment, I have JAK2 and TET2 (which reduces Pegasys efficacy) so always on the look out for something that might

Pericarditis
I had a pacemaker put in and one of the leads caused leakage. The fluid had to be drained from around my heart and the pacemaker lead corrected. However, now I am experiencing fatique, shortness of breath, feet goes numb. The doctor put me on colchicine but did not tell me I have Pericarditis. Because

Gout control after transplant
I had a transplant about 10 years ago. So far so good. God sent. But, I had a third gout (last one was 6 years ago) about 9 days ago after the transplant partially due to Cyclosporine. I took Colchicine to treat the flare this time on the 7th day as symptoms got worse on the 5th day. After 0.6 mg Colchicine
