Finished pred

After a long 8 years and 3 months with PMR, a week ago I weaned off prednisone. I had been at 1mg for months then went to 1/2 then alternate days. I have had a few aches but nothing of the old pain and discomfort. Each day is better. Just the back and neck issues from stenosis now ! Hopefully things continue this way!

Well done - I do hope it lasts a very long time.

It would be interesting to get a list of the people who take more than 5 years to get off pred.

Hi Fimckenz. That is wonderful for you. Well done! I wish you all the very best! Your post has given me some hope. I am now going into my 7th year and have started to feel quite despondent being back on 7mg again. Thank you for sharing your progress 🙏

I went down to 1.4 tablets (very roughly chopped) and then I would forget to take them on and off and that's how I stopped. Have a great rest of the summer.

Such good news! I realize that people who are doing well….made a sort of fast remission….probably don’t post so it’s wonderful when we hear the comfort stories. I, too, have been fortunate to be tapering successfully since diagnosis last August. This site has been a great resource. Thank you to all who ask and answer questions!

Wow, less than a year! One of the fortunate few. Take care.

Well done! How long did you take the half mg for and the alternate days of that for, please?

I had been on 2mg for 4 months, went to 1 mg for a month, then 1/2 for 2 weeks, then alternate days for two weeks, then when no problems stopped for 4 days, then 1/2, then 5 days then 1/2, no issues so stopped.
