Prednisolone not working as well?
I have gradually been reducing from 15mg down to 7mg and my symptoms have been kept at bay but yesterday I woke up feeling I had a cold and my knees were aching. I was wondering if the fact that I have a cold would have lessened the effectiveness of the Prednisolone to suppress my symptoms. When I was

Upped my prednisone for knee inflammation and now I'm not sure how to reduce back to 1.5 mg.
You all have so much good advice on reducing prednisone which helped be to successfully reduce my dose to 1.5 mg, which I have been on for quite some time. (Many months, but reluctant to keep going as I was having other issues and didn't want to rock the boat further.). Recently my knee became swollen

Pain in arms after handling heavy goods
I have been running a celebration event at work on Monday and Tuesday. I had to lift a couple of boxes containing some trophies that were mega heavy. I mean each one heavier than a house brick! I had to pass these over to the presenters on the Tuesday but last night...bang...my upper and lower arms became

30mg Pred a day for 6 days then ?
I would like some advice, I have had PMR for 3 years and struggled to reduce my pred and for now I am at 1 1/2 mg a day. My question is regarding my wife. She has a rash on her face and the triage nurse today at the doctors has put her on 30mg a day of prednisolone for 6 days and no taper. I am horrified

Tapering after surgery
Hi I have been on prednisolone since 2015 when I was on 60mg and also methotrexate and it has taken me till now to reduce to 3mg a day. On the 14th March I had a hysterectomy and pelvic floor repair. I was told to stop methotrexate for a while before surgery because it increases the risk of infection

Muscle fatigue post prednisolone
Hi everyone, it took me 2 years to get off prednisolone for PMR and it has been 10 months since I last took any. I try to keep fit by working out at home, dog walking and swimming. However during lockdown I walked 3-4 miles a day (while taking prednisolone) which was really enjoyable. Now if I walk any

why is my hip pain so severe?
I seem to be experiencing a flare because I have had severe hip pain now for several weeks. This may have been triggered by walking for too long on three consecutive days. Two weeks ago after a telephone appointment the rheumy told me to increase the prednisolone from 35 mg a day to 45 mg a day for two

Nurse visit and medicine options
I've been on oral MTX (25 mg) for 5 months and added sulphasalazine in February. Also just finished a short prednisolone course. I get better when on pred and decline straight after. While anti-CCP positive, my symptoms aren't really typical of RA. I don't have swollen or particularly painful/stiff hand

Thank you all!
I want to thank everyone on this forum for all the knowledge and support that you give. My wonderful rheumy retired in March. Before I had met with my new one, I had an adrenal issue of feeling dizzy and so very exhausted due to way too much physical activity and an emotional time. I knew what to do

Reduction with Prednisone and shoulder pains
I have been reducing my prednisone by 1/2 mg every month. I am down to 1mg for the past week. I have been having problems sleeping at night. About half way through the night, both shoulders scream out in pain waking me up. I eventually fallback asleep and once I get up they feel much better. I also noticed

Medications that reduce an overactive bladder
Since I've been on prednisolone my trips to the loo during the night have increased tremendously. I'm not sure if this is due to waking frequently and my body thinking that it's time for the morning loo trip but it seems that whenever I lie down for any period of time it starts up, even if I lie on

Need for Calcium supplements?
I have been on prednisolone for 10 months for PMR, recent flare at 7mg so now on 10mg until resolved. My Dexa scans show no significant bone loss, currently not taking any supplements. Should I commence them as still have some way to go on this journey!

Oral Thrush that does not go away
Hello everyone. I’m having a problem I need advice. Oral Thrush has been treated in the last 8 years off an on. Nystatin has lost effectiveness. Recently referred to immunologist who has put me on fluconozole for 90 days at 100 mg. My Rheumatologist does not know yet, but I know once again he will

Rheumatology
Has anyone else been told that their Rheumatologist appointment will only be on the condition that they have reduced Prednisolone medication to zero? I'm 2 1/2 years into GCA and initial dosage of 60mg.

The examples say to take the new dose 1 day, the old dose 6 days, then the new dose 1 day and then the old dose 5 days etc. So do I actually

Switching from prednisone to dexamethasone with abiraterone
I'm about to switch, not because my PSA is increasing, but because I'm hopeful that dexamethasone may reduce my blood pressure. Is this a sound or stupid reason to switch? Lupron plus abiraterone with prednisone have maintained my PSA < 0.1 (from 111 at DX) for over 4 years. I have all the usual SEs
