Abandoned?
Had a six month check up scheduled for later this August but I've been told it's cancelled. Finally got a call-back: one appointment available in 45 minutes (too far away - not enough time to make it), another available in October, when we'll be in the UK, and then nothing until January, when we'll be

Waking from sleep with upper abdominal pain for hours at a time
Does anyone have experience of this? Any advice very welcome. I wake from sleep with a slight discomfort, it builds and builds until I have to stand up very straight just to get a tiny bit of relief. Crouching and slow shuffling around also helps very slightly but sitting or lying down is excruciating

I was diagnosed with pmr in 2020 and have been on Prednisolone since then although l am down to 5mg now l cant get beyond that due to flares. My doctor has said it would be good for me to still come off gradually with the help of Oxynorm to control pain. I am a bit worried about doing this as l might

Rheumatologist appt
Hi, just an update. Saw rheumatologist today, he doesnt think I have PMR (too young for that, in his opinion) and instead thinks "fibromyalgia" alongside with "mechanical issues" as ultrasound in May showed shoulder bursitis and tendiopathy, calcification plus trocherantic hip bursitis. Gave me 2 cortisone

8/4/2023 Update
To review, after 19 months on Lupron, Zytiga, prednisone, PSA increased on 1/23 to 0.253, then 0.309 on 2/21. Plarify scan showed only one active site in hip which was radiated. 4/4 PSA dropped to 0.24 which indicated the lesion was knocked out and I would be hormone sensitive and stay on Zytiga. Yea

”….it is unlikely that PMR will be diagnosed”
Above quote from UK NHS website. It specifically refers to blood test results where ESR & CRP are ‘normal’. My GP and physiotherapist say my symptoms mirror PMR which isn’t supported in my bloods test. I’m confused and uncertain how to proceed. Do I seek further tests? Do I request referral to a specialist

How medical training works
Obviously people who’ve worked in medicine or allied fields know this but that leaves a lot of people who don’t and might be interested. Keep it simple and deal with what used to be called the Big Five, the London teaching-hospitals, Guy’s, Tommy’s etc. They have large numbers of Consultants in each

Prednisone reduction
Saw my Rheumatologist today and he keeps insisting that what I have sounds like RA with maybe some PMR. He asked if I had any pain at all and I told him some in my thighs and cramps in my one hand sometimes. He wants me to start on SSZ and start reducing from 30 mg by 2.5 every 2 weeks. Wants me completely

Prednisolone out of date
I realised yesterday that all my prednisolone is out of date by at least several months. Because I already had quite a lot of pred in 1mg 5 mg and 2 and a half mg I have not been ordering any more. I decided to speak with my pharmacist this morning and he told me to put in another order for pred and

GCA Osteoarthritis
I saw the rheumatologist today and he tells me all my organs are performing normally. He did see scoliosis in my back and osteoarthritis in my neck and lower back. He did not mention PMR so presume it’s off the table. My neuro opthamologist is treating my GCA with prednisone at 5mg/day. The rheumatologist

GFR dropping
Good day: I am new to this hub. I am also on the high blood pressure hub and a hub for Polymyalgia Rheumatica/Giant Cell Arteritis, which I have. My GFR was 42 back in the spring, 39 last month, and 36 this month. I see an oncologist for a protein I carry in my blood. The oncologist referred

COVID and prednisone
Hi everyone, There's a summer COVID surge happening here in the US. I'm just wondering if there is anything I should know about COVID and pred. If I get COVID, does that affect how much pred I should take? If I am in a flare (I am actually in a mild flare right now) and I get COVID, then what do I

Pain in wrists and thumbs.
I was diagnosed with PMR nine years ago and have had my ups and downs but I was fairly settled on 5mgs of Prednisolone. I now have another flare with the usual tiredness and painful shoulders and hips. However, for the first time I also have pain in my shins and ankles, my forearms and hands, but especially
