Hives and reducing pred
I’ve had terrible itchy hives on my arms, back, chest and neck for weeks now which is just not getting any better, it started from heat rash whilst on holiday in the summer. I’ve had a small amount of relief from antihistamines (Fexofenadine 180mg) and 2 weeks of Eumovate steroid cream and I’m slathering

PMR and Parkinson's Disease
Background: I have PMR diagnosed 2016 and GCA/extensive LVV diagnosed 2019. I have been on 5mg Prednisolone daily for the past year. I used to also take 25mg Methotrexate weekly but this was stopped in 2022 when I was hospitalised with Methotrexate-induced interstitial lung disease (now resolved).

I have posted before regarding the fact that after a year on steroids and having many side effects I was told to reduce them by 1mg a month. My rheumatologist did not think I had PMR (diagnosed originally by GP). After 6 months of increasing pain and stiffness and down to 2mg I was able to have a

Fir a Friend: Tongue is red and Tender
Hi, I have a friend with GCA from another site. She was diagnosed in October 2023. Currently onn10 mg. Prednisone. She called this morning saying that the side of her tongue has a red spot that is sensitive to the touch. I don’t know much about when GCA hits the tongue. Does she need to go straight

progress with tapering
Hi All, I am currently at 2.25mg prednisone and am noticing that I have a bit more energy these days. I thought it would be interesting to review for myself my prednisone dosing since I started in 2021. I have been keeping a record in Excell. Perhaps this will be encouraging to others, although I realize

Any advice to get back on track please?
Hi kind and wise experts, I have completely stuffed up my GCA dosing regime and am an aching, weepy, exhausted (and clearly self indulgent!) mess😱😂 I wrote several months back asking for advice on coming off Actemra, after 2 yrs, and upping prednisone to cover it. I had been on 1.5mg pred daily

PMR and coated Prednisolone tablets
Hallo Has anyone been able to have prescribed for them prednisolone tablets that are labelled as "enteric coated" or "gastro resistant" ? these can be taken without food, which would be a boon for me. If I don’t sleep very well, which is common, then I wake late and end up taking my preds about 10am

What happens when Adrenal Gland starts working
I am back down to, and hovering, at 6.5mg Prednisolone, over the past few days have developed a nasty niggling pain deep in the left side of my neck and shoulder. This pain is the same pain I hade when first diagnosed with PMR and is in one of the original places. My question is;- if PMR was caused

Sharp pains in head - lupus related or something else?
Hi all, I have general nerve pain in my head ever since I had concussion and whiplash seven years ago - so I'll get fibromyalgia shoulders and pains travelling up my scalp, particularly the right side. It's not that troublesome. But since I had my Covid jab three weeks ago I've had a few episodes

Side effects of methotrexate?
I've been taking prednisone for PMR for a year--had no clinical signs of GCA, but have had persistent very high CRP levels for several months. Finally my rheumatologist sent me to a specialist a month ago for an ultrasound of my arteries and he confirmed unequivocally that I had GCA. I could see

Prednisone alternative for Glaucoma patients
Not sure if this has been posted before. For those with Glaucoma, Prednisone may not be good for you. For steroid responders, Prednisone can increase your Intra Ocular Pressure leading to more damage to your retina fiber, losing more of your vision. It is advisable to discuss steroid use with both

PMR pain or Adrenal issue
Hello, I have not had PMR pain in over a year. I do have GCA too. I just reduced my prednisone by a half mg a few days ago. My hips and knees are bothering me today. Could this be due my reduction of prednisone and my Adrenals stating to work? Should I go with it for a few days to see if it gets better

Palpitations
Hi all. Just had a horrible weekend , fast irregular heart rate, lasted over 1 hour . Of course it had stopped by the time I was monitored, so they didn't really have any record . Spent 2 nights in EAU wired up , lots of ecgs bloods etc. They reassured me it wasn't a heart attack . The flutters continued
