Pain and when to increase prednisolone?
I've reduced carefully since 2018 on 15mg to 1mg pred since Jan 2023. Since September 23, I've had increasing pain and stiffness in my intercostals but crucially in muscles in my hip area. At first it was annoying stiffness with a wee bit of pain for maybe 20 mins on waking and I could walk it off.

split dose of prednisolone
please can you tell me any experience you have of splitting a pred dose between evening and morning. I know some people have found it beneficial, using enteric coated at night and non enteric coated in the morning, but is there a downside? Any research?I did a search and found an article about PMR taking

Mixing plain and gastro Pred
I have just requested 2.5mg Prednisolone from my surgery as I am down to 4.5mg and it’s much easier to get a correct dose without splitting pills. I see that they will be giving me gastro resistant tabs so I will be taking 1 of these together with 2x1mg plain Prednisolone. Is this going to create

Adrenal insufficiency
After 3.5 years on Prednisolone and 1 year of Toccilizumab for GCA including sight loss (late diagnosis), starting at 60mg, I got down to 2mg following a Synacthen test in June 23 which apparently proved my adrenal glands were capable of working. However I couldn’t function at all, extreme fatigue,

prednisolone interacting with contraceptives..? Is this a thing?
hello everyone. It’s been a long time since I posted on here but was just wondering if this is something that anyone anywhere has heard of or experienced? I’ve been taking 6mg of prednisone a day for over 5 years now. This is the absolute lowest dose I can stay at, any lower and I am so unwell I’

Stress - I ignored the obvious ...
I should know this by now after nearly 4 years of PMR. I am normally reasonably OK at dealing with stress, but there is a limit. Now I know all too well that PMR flares are indeed one of the ugly lovechilds of major stress. I am 68 but still working. One of my sidelines suffered terribly in Covid

PMR or Arthritis?
I have been reading your forum since I was diagnosed with PMR just over 2 years ago. I have found it incredibly informative, helpful and comforting, but this is my 1st post. I was diagnosed with PMR after a couple of months of extreme pain and stiffness in the neck, shoulders hips and knee, to the extent

Malecare newsletter reports Finish study glucocorticoids (e.g. prednisone, prednisolone, dexamethasone) can lead to castrate resistance
“However, recent studies have shown that the glucocorticoid receptor also has an oncogenic, or cancer-promoting, effect in cancers like breast and prostate cancer. In prostate cancer, the glucocorticoid receptor can replace the activity of the androgen receptor, which is main oncogenic factor in this

incorrect dose of prednisolone?
Just less than a month ago, I reduced my first prednisolone dose from 15mg to 12.5mg. This was after a blood test. I wasn’t keen to reduce by more than ten percent, especially as I was going to be travelling a long way and be away for Xmas and new year, then home for two days and away again for eight

Tooth extraction and Prednisolone
First, thank you for all the fantastic help and advice...now my question. 9 months post diagnosis and (mainly) tapering well from 15mg to 9mg.In a day or so, I need to have a tooth removed. 63 and with "my generation" teeth. The dentist has advised to double dose on the day of the procedure. That seems

Struggling with Mycophenolate
Hi all, do any of you take Nintedanib with Prednisolone? My consultant has been trying to get me onto Mycophenolate before starting me on Nintedanib , as it is steroid sparing, but I hate feeling the way I do on this drug. Constant nausea, low mood ( I don’t feel like me at all) disrupted sleep and low

Mycophenolate instead of Perfinedine or Nintenanib?
Hi everyone I became breathless suddenly in August 2023. This was initially dismissed by my GP even though O2 was 90% as my chest was clear and I had no cough. A fortnight later I was able to get an appointment with a different GP who sent me for a chest X ray which showed I had pulmonary fibrosis.

How I reinvented myself after PMR diagnosis
For me, this might be better titled, how I've muddled through. The reinventing is a work in progress and likely to be for the foreseeable future and I realise as I have been writing this, that the reinvention perhaps began a very long time before I was given any kind of a diagnosis. I'd had undiagnosed

Bursitis - more questions
Having been an avid reader of this amazing forum for the last 18 months, I am convinced that a lot of the pain I was suffering before starting on Prednisolone was due to bursitis. I had 13 months of symptoms which included, I’m now sure, bursitis in my hips, shoulders and knees. I started on 15 mg

Has the recommended delivery of Prednisolone for asthma changed over the last 10 years?
Recently suffered a severe exacerbation of asthma with a chest infection. The last time was in 2011 with swine flu. This time the doctor wanted me on 25mg/day of prednisolone for 5 days and then to stop. I requested a lower dose and I went on 10 mg/day. After five days I had improved but when I went

Giving up work before retirement.
I have been asked to share my story to a new post as it might be useful for other people in this situation to read. I had to give up my business in 2016 because of my health. I was only 54 at the time. I had been struggling for a while and was on 30mg of Prednisolone at the time along with a cocktail

Staying on prednisolone
Hi All, Would just like to know if being on a low dose of prednisolone forever is something that anyone out there is doing? I was on pred for 9 years and was slowly weaned off it, finishing in July 2023. To be honest I have had so much muscle and joint pain since coming off pred it would be a relief
