Update on Tooth Extraction
Well!...... the remains of the tooth have gone and the whole experience has had some positives and some negatives!Let's start with negatives first:- - appointment start time...11.00am but actual start time.....12.05pm! The correct way to ween down on hydrocortisone? Advice please.
My last post was when I was just starting on 20mg of hydrocortisone changing from prednisolone and needed advice. Further down the line more advice needed please. On Monday I tested Covid ‘Positive’ I had avoided it since the first day that dreaded name was on everyone’s lips so it was a shock to find

Not a UTI
Thinking I had picked up a UTI (strange feeling in bladder area and frequent feeling of needing to urinate) I requested a urine test, which was done. The triage nurse at my surgery informed me that although it showed no infection there were in fact microscopic traces of blood in there, (which would be

First Rheumatology Appointment
I had my first rheumatology appointment today and I think it well unless any of you think otherwise as I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was diagnosed with PMR by GP at the end of June 2023 and successfully tapered from 15mg of Prednisolone to 10mg by the end of August however after three failed attempts

PREDNISOLONE and Methotrexate
hi, I’ve been on Pred for 15 months, gradually withdrawing. I got down to 3 mg and no further - a huge flair up. My rheumatologist has now suggested I take Methotrexate 20mg once a week, as well as increase Prednisolone to 10mg. Is anyone else on both these meds at the same time ? Has the Methotrexate

prednisolone interacting with contraceptives..? Is this a thing?
hello everyone. It’s been a long time since I posted on here but was just wondering if this is something that anyone anywhere has heard of or experienced? I’ve been taking 6mg of prednisone a day for over 5 years now. This is the absolute lowest dose I can stay at, any lower and I am so unwell I’

GCA Neck pain
I was diagnosed with GCA in October 2022. Started on 60mg of Prednisolone & titrated down now 3mg. Have a great GP with whom I have a telephone appointment every 2weeks. Many, many side effects from the steroids, too many to list but now my main ones are severe pain in neck & exhaustion. I feel quite

Prednisolone
Hi all. I haven't posted for a while, but I am on here everyday reading all your updates.I had an ablation in November 21. I have had a couple of AF episodes since, but they didn't last too long. I am getting what I think are palpatations, which seem to be getting worse. I have been feeling quite poorly

Malecare newsletter reports Finish study glucocorticoids (e.g. prednisone, prednisolone, dexamethasone) can lead to castrate resistance
“However, recent studies have shown that the glucocorticoid receptor also has an oncogenic, or cancer-promoting, effect in cancers like breast and prostate cancer. In prostate cancer, the glucocorticoid receptor can replace the activity of the androgen receptor, which is main oncogenic factor in this

Newly diagnosed with limited systemic sclerosis
I was diagnosed in September 2023. I’m currently on prednisolone and hydroxycholoquine. I’ve struggled with fatigue for close to 2 years now and it has been the most debilitating symptom so far. In the past few weeks my hands have become very achey, they were slightly achey before but now it’s a lot

tender breasts?
good evening! This is a strange one I think. Just wondered if anyone could explain or maybe have had experience of this. I will go to the Doctor obviously. I started Prednisolone in early October 15 mg and am currently on 9.5. Golfing, gardening, decorating - have had very few side effects - and felt

Should I apply sick day rules following a foot operation?
I had an operation yesterday to remove osteophyte ring from around my big toe. I’m home now and it’s very painful despite taking the codeine 30mg they prescribed. My PMR is no different and I’m on 6mg prednisolone but am I supposed to apply sick day rules or do I only do that if PMR gets worse?

Licorice
I know we are supposed to avoid licorice while on prednisolone as it supposedly increases the steroid in our body. I've even heard it described as a steroid saver. Why then, do we not use it as such when tapering off pred? I'd happily eat some!

best way to reduce Prednisolone
I have tried to come off Prednisolone for PMR for the last 8 years by slow reduction. However, my diagnosis has recently been changed to MS and advised to definitely come of Steroids. Fatigue is a massive problem for me. I am currently on 5mg of Pred daily but have just had opposite views from 2 Doctors

Dexamethasone
My cousin has a brain tumour and is receiving radiotherapy. In addition, she has been prescribed 2mg daily dexamethasone steroids. I'm wondering what is the difference between this drug and prednisolone?
