Castration Resistant Stage 4 Advanced Prostate Cancer Therapy Update - Starting EBRT and Xofigo Today
Abiraterone failed after about 6 months. My PSA is back up to 190 and I have a bunch of painful metastases on my ribs, spine and pelvis. I will be going to the Levine Cancer Institute today to begin 10 cycles of External Beam Radio Therapy (EBRT) and 6-months of intravenous Xofigo. We don't have the

'Substandard' Control Arms in Clinical Trials– Practice found common in prostate cancer studies
The trial included patients with metastatic
castration
-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) with a mutation of a predefined set in a DNA repair gene that had progressed on at least one androgen receptor targeting agent (ARTA), enzalutamide or abiraterone.

Cellular and Genetic Clues that Drive BAT effectiveness
"This oncogene, MYC, is amplified or overexpressed in many

Probiotic supplements vs. diet and fiber for adv. prostate cancer. This is a short summary of my three days of research.
Ablation of the gut microbiota by antibiotic therapy delayed the emergence of
castration
resistance even in immunodeficient mice. Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) from CRPC mice and patients rendered mice harboring prostate cancer resistant to
castration

According to PSMA PET Scan all metastases found are in bones; so after discussion with Oncologist about options, Xofigo (Radium-223) is next
About 3 months ago my PSA started rising; went from 5 to 120, so the prostate cancer is officially classed as
castration
resistant.

Guillain-Barré Syndrome after PCa Diagnosis... Anyone?
ADT, of course, is a form of
castration
. Might that result in estrogen-dominance & increased autoimmune risk? No, because men make most of their estrogen from aromatization ot testosterone [T] to estradiol [E2] (and androstenedione to estrone).

The Patch Trial...The Verdict is in!
Respective

Response to supraphysiological testosterone is predicted by a distinct androgen receptor cistrome.
Because transcriptomes of SPT-treated clinical specimens are not available, we interrogated available
castration
-resistant PC (CRPC) transcriptomes and showed that the SPT-R signature is associated with improved survival and has the potential to identify patients who would respond to SPT.

Off-Off-Topic. Estrogen:Androgen Ratio.
Back in 2004 the research on PubMed indicated that the androgen receptor [AR} was generally wild-type at diagnosis and that AR alterations were a consequence of
castration
therapy. Conversely, the estrogen environment was generally screwed up at diagnosis.

Statins: new study regarding time to CRPC
Conclusions: Our study suggests that metabolic syndrome is a risk factor for earlier progression from
castration
-sensitive to
castration
-resistant prostate cancer and raises the possibility that treatment, such as statin use, may slow the time to progression.
