Hi, i am booked in to have the right side of my thyroid removed this month and i am starting to get nervous. I am overweight already, recently lost a stone and scared that i am going to pile the pounds back on after the operation. I was also wondering how peoples recovery went and how long people stayed

Follicular thyroid cancer
I was diagnosed with a benign goitre back in 2015. After noticing they had grown I’ve had further investigations and then a partial thyroidectomy. I have been told I have follicular cancer and now need to have the rest removed and potentially nuclear iodine. My tumour was encapsulated in thyroid but

Why do people have multiple ablations?
Before I had my ablation I was told that the success rate was 70%, so for 30% of people it didn't work at all or maybe it didn't work perfectly and they would need one or more procedures. Presumably that is because not all of the electrical signals were found but maybe not. Maybe it only worked for

Hoping for advice - endo appointment - updated with test results
Apologies if this is a bit of a long post! Hoping to give as much info as I can in case any of you can offer me some advice. I had a partial thyroidectomy (two thirds of thyroid removed) overseas 13 years ago, after developing intrusive goitre, antibodies, after pregnancy. Been through the mill a bit

Post ablation palpitations?
Hello. I just had a cardiac ablation yesterday for SVT. They said I had 2 nodes and pathways and that they found the circuit and ablated it and considered it successful. Since getting home I’m getting almost constant flutters and palpitations. (Pre-procedure they were induced by running/jumping/swimming

Starting on thyroxine tomorrow
I had my tft bloods done on Friday and on Monday morning (very early) had a text to contact my GP with ref to them. I had a telephone appointment with her and she said that my tsh was 14.9, my previous level in November was 9.78, so she was prescribing me 25 mg thyroxine to start on and would like retests

Recently had a cardiac ablation
Ive been having terrible mood swings - I feel angry all the time and over the littlest things, I'm freezing all the time and I'm so tired. I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience and what you did to ease them? I know that these are probably just side effects and will eventually

Partial Thyroid removed last year, more problems to other side? Can anyone comment?
Hi all, I had a partial thyroidectomy last March as I had large goitres on the left hand side of my thyroid. I was fine after the op and right up until December of last year when I started having exactly the same symptoms on the right hand side of my thyroid. My GP advised the right hand side felt very

Post Cardiac Ablation Floaters / Spots
Hi All, I received a successful cardiac ablation back in August, 2019 which involved trans-septal puncture. For the subsequent month, I experienced a number of visual aura disturbances without migraine (these have since subsided). However, 6 months later, I still feel like my vision isn’t fully back

Not sure if I had a heart attack
I have a pacemaker for bradycardia and on
cartia
to keep the heart from beating too fast. Was that mid November episode a heart attack? What should I expect when I see the electrophysiologist?

Thyroidectomy and calcium
There are sometimes posts or replies on the merits or demerit of calcium supplements. However, treatment for all thyroid conditions is not the same. People who have had thyroidectomy often need calcium as well as vit D3. Whether from food or supplements we all need sufficient calcium in our bodies

Post hemithyroidectomy op
It’s almost 3 months since my partial thyroidectomy due to thyroid cancer and it’s been a roller coaster ride of emotions and recovery. I have hypothyroidism. I went back to work on phased return ( I’m a teacher) and find that after talking a lot my voice becomes hoarse and I’m forever clearing my throat

Ablation for ectopic beats
I was wondering whether anyone had any experience regarding having an ablation because of ectopic beats and whether it was successful. My ectopic beats were first detected roughly 7 months ago and have since been undergoing cardiology investigations. I have so far had a 7 day ECG monitor and a echocardiogram
