Hi, i am booked in to have the right side of my thyroid removed this month and i am starting to get nervous. I am overweight already, recently lost a stone and scared that i am going to pile the pounds back on after the operation. I was also wondering how peoples recovery went and how long people stayed in hospital? Thanks
Partial thyroidectomy : Hi, i am booked in to... - Thyroid UK
Partial thyroidectomy
Hi, i have a nodule that swells and puts pressure on my air way when ever i am poorly and the last biopsy was inconclusive so they suggested taking the tight lobe off to be safe.
Oh wow, how are you doing now?
Thank you. I haven't had much surgery before only my tonsils when i was in my early twenties so just nervous i think... glad you had a great result with yours! How was your recovery, did it take long to heal?
Hi I had my thyroid out 2013 and I wasn’t bothered about the operation and the stuff after that but I done something silly I picked mine and it hasn’t gone the same on both sides
Hi, yeah when it swells it really presses and as my asthma usually flares up at the same time, it does get quite hard to breathe at times. My surgeon said a full one is a harder op and recovery.
I had left side of my thyroid removed six weeks ago. I was more nervous than any other operation but it was very straightforward. Very little pain. I felt well within days just tired. I feel better than I have done in two years. I had nodules. They found follicular variant papillary cancer but no further treatment just monitoring as it’s been removed and hadn’t spread. Good luck!! You will be fine I’m sure.
