Fit and pretty healthy 65 year old guy trying to figure out why I have now had my second PE 4 years apart. Keeping my Afib controlled without any meds after cardiac ablation 4 years ago but after second knee surgery months later I was admitted to Hospital for Bilateral Embolism and now on Eliquis blood thinner, hopefully not for the rest of my life. Wondering if we are more problematic to deal with Covid if it ever comes to that? Ive tested negative several times now.

Welcome to this community on HU. Your PEs should resolve and the medication should prevent any more. Are you having symptoms that are concerning you? How long is it since your last PE?
If your symptoms have persisted more than a few weeks you should see your GP or contact your consultant.
It is rare for there to be permanent damage from PEs.
All the best

Hi, and welcome to the community. Sorry, I can't help you about the PE as I haven't experienced that so far. Just wanted to ask, did your great handle come from the Doors' hit single - just love that and have it in my vinyl collection.
Hi and welcome and sorry can't help
I had a massive bi lateral saddle PE in 2019 when I was 64. Caused, it seems by undiagnosed afib. Had thrombolysis via drip. I'm on anti coagulant for life now - Rivaroxaban. Also Bisoprolol and Amlodipine for the afib - which is now constant. I would think the risk of Covid being bad in someone who has had a PE would be higher, and also age of course. Stay safe.
Thanks Cat lady for the info from this Cat guy. Just wondering if it could have come from battling AFib. How did you come up with that? Was it suggested by your doctor? I am flummoxed on how I got this? And this is the second time it almost took my life.
If you haven't been on any meds for the afib, then very high chance it's the afib that has caused your PE - unless you have any kind of clotting disorder? It is very important to get on anti coagulants as soon as because the afib can and does produce clots. Heart is all over the place electrically and that can cause clots to form in the heart and sooner or later they go walk about with devastating, or fatal, results. Without meds you are playing russian roulette.
