Finally prescribed Methadone, amazing results.
Hi all. I live on the West Coast of Canada and have suffered from RLS since earliest childhood. This past year I was put back onto Levodopa, as I had augmented on everything else available, and they decided to try an old treatment I hadn’t used in twenty years, It actually worked if I used it throughout

My opinion of Mannitol
If enough Mannitol gets in your blood stream to do any good, your gut is probably too porous and you should see a doctor about “leaky gut”. As for me Mannitol is a laxative. "Or" maybe it flushed out the bacteria eating your Levodopa - Like when I was on antibiotics and didn’t need any L-dopa for a

Insulin & glucose in Parkinson's / Ketogenic lifestyle
hi, I am finding that the effect of glucose or insulin has quite an effect on mobility. Before, it seemed that protein alone would interfere with L-Dopa. Now it's not only that, but post-prandial somnolence that can lay me down for hours. Come the next day, I can pretty much lead a "normal" day (with

Anxiety and insomnia in PD
I write this to try to help the PD warriors and their carers. My husband was diagnosed with PD 3 years ago, and his 2 most disturbing symptoms have been anxiety and insomnia. After 7 months of experimentation with meds, his anxiety was relieved by Venlafaxine. However the insomnia was a constant battle

"The cure for Parkinson's disease". New book in Spanish. Coming soon in English.
A few days ago I finished and published on Amazon a book in Spanish about Parkinson's disease. Possibly closer to the one I would have liked to have at hand to help my father 20 or 30 years ago. "The cure for Parkinson's. Do we already know what it takes to checkmate the disease? (December 2021).

DBS Induced Dystonia
I recently had DBS surgery after 13 years with Young Onset PD. I am now 47. The first couple of programming sessions were very promising but I began to develop painful, disruptive dystonia in both arms and legs which has kept me from moving. Sometimes I cannot even walk across my kitchen floor. When

Did the Georgetown University Plan Stand a Chance?
I started this response over three weeks ago. I had some intense dyskinesia that caused me to lose content so I had to start over several times. Thank you to all those people that offered advice. I know I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree and I cannot repeat sub 5 minute miles in a marathon. At the

Oral Molecule PD13R Safely Eases Dyskinesia Tied to Levodopa in Primate Model
A newly discovered oral molecule, called PD13R, significantly lessened levodopa-induced dyskinesia, its involuntary and jerky movements, while maintaining the therapy’s benefits in a non-human primate model of Parkinson’s disease. Notably, in contrast to Gocovri (amantadine) — an approved therapy to

Does Levodopa cause your brain to produce less of "its own" dopamine?
Does anyone know if there is research on this topic? Does taking C/L actually discourage the brain from producing its own dopamine because it's being fed dopamine from an external source? I just wondered if this question had ever been explored because the human body is lazy. For example, if you

Has anyone tried this to manage FND symptoms? My gp gave me a 7 day trial, by 3rd day my jerks had decreased, which was my main concern. Just not sure of adding another med to my long list of medications. Or whether more symptoms will decrease. Would like to hear from others who had success. Take care
