Calcific Tendonitis
My husband has a painful calcific tendonitis in his right shoulder. He has PKD, gfr is 30 and going into stage 4. Ortho doctor gave him a Cortizone shot 2 days ago, so far it has not relieved the pain. I read this happens more often with end-stage renal disease. Also he was taking more vitamin D

Hypercalcemia & Parathyroid Hormone
At my last visit to the Nephrologist, my Calcium count was high. Nothing had changed in my normal pattern. I did some research (I usually go to Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic sites) and discovered that this could be due to an overactive parathyroid gland. Neph. took additional blood and 1st results

Understanding results
Since having my thyroid removed in September 2021, I've had a number of blood tests including some last week. As I had an early morning appointment at my GP surgery, I was able to follow the guidelines that are on here about medication etc. Here are the results: Serum TSH - 0.05mU/L (range 0.4-5.0mU

Natural Bone Supplement?
I'm looking to start a good calcium supplement. Which type of calcium is best? Calcium from the sea like "algae" ? I've heard "citrate" is better absorbed as you get older..? Also want Vit. K, boron, Vit. D, magnesium. Does anyone have a brand that has been recommended to you? Thanks!

Underactive Thyroid, Hashimoto, Anaemia or none of the above
Any thoughts on the below please? I am considered normal but hoping to see an Endo specialist privately. I do have some more blood test results re: blood count but thought these might be the key ones. Can add if needed Creatinine 83 (range 53 - 97) Calcium 2.41 mmol (no normal range) CKD 75ml/min/1.73m2

Diet Supplements
Once again unable to sleep. Thinking about my diet. I’m having some stomach and digestive investigations. My stomach is now so distended and solid with it. It looks like I have someone else’s abdomen and my own skinny arms and legs. It’s hurting my back. I am determined to boost my health this year by

Remaining on a low dose of pred indefinitely
A lot of posts discuss tapering off steroids as a priority, but I'm wondering if there are some members who are happy to remain on a low dose of pred (say, around 5mg or below) and have their GP or rheumatologist's blessing to do so. I mention this because during my last visit to see my rheumatologist

Alkaline Phosphatase labs & hyperthyroid. Input welcome!
Just received this message from my GP: I have reviewed your recent lab work. Please see below for a summary of the results: -The elevated alkaline phosphatase is confirmed that it is coming from the bone and this is related to being on too much thyroid hormone, at your visit next week we will discuss
