I haven't been of line for a few days, i thought it best to rest for a while. I was in a bad place but it was reading your kind and supportive posts that helped me through. This is a block thank you to all you lovely people. I would like to answer some of the questions you asked. i have been on steroids for eighteen months and am now down to seven ml per day. Fingers crossed i have had no pmr problems at all. My osteroporosis is bad , yes i take vit D and calcium prescribed by the gp. i am also under the hospital and have six monthly injections . My shingles are getting better. I went on anti viral tablets on the third day. I am now on gabapentin for the horrendous nerve ending pain. i have also been using Aqueous cream, it has helped a lot.

I have to say i am not new to Health Unlocked. It was some years ago i joined with respiratory problems, i also went on the Osteoporosis site. Unfortunately, nearly four years ago i had a stroke, it left me with brain damage where i can't always process what i see. Then came the PMR.

I think H/U is a wonderful place for people with health conditions can meet up .

I know i have been very lucky having so much support from all of you.

Thank you all so very much.

Very soon i will be back in touch with you. Take care xx

Just a tiny warning…do watch your ‘mood’, please. Gabapentin can lower your mood & make you feel very bad emotionally. There’s a lot about it if you Google. I’m a very positive person, I think, & my cup is always half full. But on Gabapentin it was empty & I was ina bad place. DO talk to a doctor if you get issues, please. Most seem unaware of that side effect. This is just what happened to me..it may have nothing to do with your issue at all. Please take care,nS x

I had shingles back in September so I empathise with you. It was very painful and for a few weeks I thought it would never get better, but it did. Like you I used the aqueous calamine cream, which I kept in the fridge, to soothe the burning. I took cocodomol at night as I wasn’t able to have amytriptilyn. I managed to have the antivirals on the first day of the rash which must have helped. Take care and rest. Sending hugs to you x
