Encephalopathy (HE), a visit to an ancient brain
Hepatic Encephalopathy (HE) -- A stranger lives inside me. I've talked with many who have experienced the condition but this was my first time. It was very different from what I imagined. This blog is particularly aimed at care givers and family members who find themselves interacting with someone

Magnesium and Lavender
I take Magnesium capsules at night to sleep and since starting, I rarely feel RLS. If I'm particularly exhausted, I do feel it, in which case, I use Feather and Down Sleep butter. It stops it in seconds. It is lavender-based. There is a version that also has a dose of Magnesium in it. I'd surmise that

CAD at 47 - Shock
Just a bit of background. Was suffering from anxiety attacks and heart palpitations last Sep. Was referred to a cardiologist (privately). Did the usual tests (holt ecg / Echo / CTCA). Whilst the ecg and echo came back with no issues, unfortunately CTCA showed moderate( 50%) stenosis in mid-LAD. Calcium

Magnesium Supplement
Should magnesium supplements be continued if magnesium levels are within normal range? Is there a specific target magnesium level for patients with RLS?

Carnivore Diet - Can't solidly recommend it
I have been on the Carnivore Diet for 3 months or so, as part of my quest to ameliorate as much of my Young Onset Parkinsons Disease symptoms as possible. I'll sum it up a bit for you. 1. The diet consists of animal products and ideally no plant products. I ate mostly beef, eggs and butter, but

Typical…
Started taking magnesium supplement from the supermarket and slept really well and felt more relaxed and less joint pain. Have only been taking half a tablet every night for about three nights, with the intention of building up to a full tablet slowly. Today my bladder seems to be irritated, running

Can you help me with an advice, please
Hello everyone! I am diagnosed with hypothyroidism and take Levothyroxine 100mg. I don't feel well at all, but I also have other health problems: lupus, Sjogren's, Henoch's purpura, neutropenia... I have a lot of symptoms and pains that I don't know where they are coming from, but fibromyalgia and depression

follow up to previous post. Help please.
Hi all, I previously posted on behalf of my Mom. TSH, B12, folate and vitamin D below was taken 21/12/23. GP prescribed 50,000 unit 1 a week for 6 weeks vitamin D caps. So we see the ones called calceous 400 unit with calcium 1 twice a day did not maintain her level. So that could be one reason why she

T3 and updates.
Hope everyone is having a good day and not pouring it down and misty as it is here. Managed to have a telephone consultation with my usual Dr. today that I feel was helpful. My T3 result was done with my last tests and is 4.5 which said in normal range. I only had one thyroid test prior to beginning

Should I be asking for an increase in Levo?
I have an appt with my endo on Thursday to discuss my latest results and those from last August and April when I was taking different amounts of levo. I always follow the suggested procedure of stopping Vit B complex a week before, early blood test and not taking levo for 24 hours. My most recent

Tiny Levo increase but FT4 well over range
Just got results back from MMH. I’ll add historical results for comparison but they may be irrelevant as I am where I am! I take Levo only. Ranges were 3.1-6 for FT3 and 12-22 for all tests. 2021 on 100mcg TSH 0.01 FT4 24.9=129% (12-22) FT3 6.5=91.89% (3.1-6.8) Note: insomnia much improved

Metallic taste in mouth from Magnesium?
Hello. For the last 10 days or so I've been having a sort of strange metallic/burned tongue taste in my mouth. At first I thought that I burned my tongue on a hot meal but it seems that it's something else. Aside from daily propafenone tablets for my PAf, I do take magnesium (glycinate) supplement 2

Private cardiac MOT 5 years on?
Hi everyone... I'm just coming up on 5 years since an 'out of the blue' heart attack and cardiac arrest. My annual CHD review is due, and I pretty much know what to expect - they'll weigh me, ask me about my exercise, check my bloods and ask me how I feel. No red flags from that I'll be on my way

Hello everyone. Firstly I want to say a big thanks to everyone that helped me understand my mum's results and situation. I also got my wires crossed and gave some wrong info. My mum did have a test before they prescribed 25mg, TSH 8.58. They said as she was 'borderline' they would try levo before considering
