statin - pee in the night?

Hi

I take atorvistatin 80mg st bed time. I have issues with overactive bladder, but recently been getting up to pee every hour every night. Is there a link? Do I need to see GP, I take a couple of meds for bladder already.

(66 male - generally ok - but calcium score is 2581 and have stable mild angina)

hello even if not the statin and as your already on something bladder related and this appears to be a substantial change to usual weeing, then yes absolutely nothing to lose by talking to GP.

We should always “listen” to our bladder and bowels.

So yes - see your doctor.

Good luck.

It is important you should see your GP, the sooner the better. Your condition is unlikely to be related to the statin, but your GP is the person to decide on that. At your age and being a man, you will most likely need to be checked out for urology conditions. If you already have a diagnosis of an overactive bladder it could have worsened but there are likely other things to consider.

I would as has been said by Fanfab1 & Lowerfield_no_more contact your gp too as it is a change in urinating habit. Could be water infection, prostate, other meds your on for the bladder already but best get checked out.

As everyone else has said, time to see your GP and be prepared for the "finger test".

I've been on the same statin plus other meds and had the same nighttime wee problem.

Turns out I have an enlarged prostate so I now take another tablet for that and the problem is sorted.

King Charles is having surgery for the same thing today🙂

The Finger Test 😂 that is not my favourite

Finger tests are only part of the things your GP should be checking. If your symptoms have increased very recently, coupled with reduced flow, you should be getting a PSA test and if the results are elevated you should be put in for an urgent referral and the target is to be seen within 2 weeks.

Do you take any other medication as I don't think it is the Atorvastatin.

Not what you're looking for?
