Buprenophine success!
I am so grateful to Shumbah for posting and sharing her experience and success with Buprenorphine. I was able to get it prescribed from a neurologist here in Japan yesterday (0.2 grams as a suppository) and I tried it for the first time ( 1 x 0.2 mg suppository) last night. I slept for almost 10 hours

Questions about types of scans.
We've done 2 PET/CT scans this year. One in May and one in August. I'm trying to avoid another one. Can anyone say why a PET/CT is better than asking for a full body MRI. At this point we are trying to avoid any more radioactive tracer in his body. We will do it if needed. We've had MRI's in the

Just had the worst experience
So went and saw gynaecologist today as been getting bad pain in right side for months now due to an endometrioma. The lady I saw did not seem to specialise in the condition and actually stated that she was a registrar. Said that although it is causing me a lot of pain it is quite small at just over

Should I be referred? GP says no...history of Graves
Hi everyone I was diagnosed with Graves’ disease in 1999 and eventually had radioactive iodine treatment. This seemed to work and I have been having yearly blood tests to monitor things. 18 months ago I hit menopause (I’m 54) and my skin became really dry to the point of eczema and puffy swelling around

Thyroid and Lung Function
Does anyone know if there is a link between low lung function and thyroid disorders? I had an overactive thyroid for any years and ended up having radioactive iodine treatment and it subsequently is now underactive. I was told I have graves disease as well. A negative association between urinary iodine concentration and the prevalence of hyperuricemia and gout
In my mind, some sort of association between gout and thyroid has long seemed likely. However, it would probably be a gross over-simplification to suggest that everyone with gout is hypothyroid, and their gout was caused by that hypothyroidism. As so many papers, this too calls for further research.

How are your calcium and PTH levels?
I had RAI treatment for Graves 40 years ago. 10 years ago, I was diagnosed with a parathyroid adenoma and had that removed. (by the way--people who took radio active iodine are advised by the NDC to have their PTH hormone levels tested every 5 years) Recently I have suffered from insomnia and extreme

Yellow Mucus Following Circumcision
I had a circumcision 17 days ago; quite a nasty one as i had left it 25 years (I'm 51) and 90% of the foreskin was stuck to the head and needed to be separated. The 1st few days were fairly pain free, but I've had some discomfort following this and occasionally pain levels go through the roof for a

Party Girls don't get hurt...
You could often see Party Girl out... Well, pretty much any night of the week. Wednesdays were usually her favourite. Peeling away from her equally drunk friends wearing more makeup than clothes, it would be easy to look at Party Girl and think 'Ugh, what a slag'. She wasn't a slag though. Not by any

Does anyone know if Starpowa - is safe with an in remission Thyroid ?
My hair is very fine and although okay, it has bouts of falling out a lot for no apparent reason. I got quite excited when I saw the reviews about Starpowa from Holland and Barret, a hair and nail supplement. I was going to order Starpowa online but I called in to Holland and Barret today and was told

Tendonitis and other things
Last summer I had tendonitis on my wrist but it resolved by itself eventually. I used pain gel and wrist support. But I feel I have so tight tendons or can't say what it is all over my body. Bad days the gnawing pain goes from the heels all they up to the neck. It's muscle pain I think but feels very

IODINE!!!
There have been a few posts lately about supplements containing iodine. It seems counter-intuitive that iodine can harm thyroid function even though . There are probably hundreds, even thousands, of health supplement manufacturers and suppliers that sell seaweed pills or thyroid "Tonics" containing

Hashimoto's, iodine and cardiac symptoms.....
I know some people with Hashimoto's benefit from a little iodine supplementation, but others don't. I wondered if any of those who don't would be willing to share any cardiac symptoms they may have had from either a small (150mcg) daily dose of iodine, or a large single dose of iodine as given for a

Need some knowledge please!
So I may have endometriosis, I just got back from a&e after calling 111 from the amount of pain I’ve been in. Been sent home with a box of codeine and told it’s probably my hormones and if I have endometriosis it’ll also be that. However I still don’t know the root problem for it all. I’m grateful for
