Bronchoscopy
My pulmonary doctor is really pushing to do a
bronchoscopy
. She wants to get a better, deeper sample of any mucus that may give her a better idea of infection etc. I do have some mucus plugging. It just bothers me because it is an invasive procedure. Has anyone had this done?

Bronchoscopy- done. Well sort of!!
Hi Went to St Thomas’s Hospital yesterday for the dreaded
bronchoscopy
. All the staff were amazing!!! So kind and understanding. The procedure was .. let’s say unpleasant. I was sedated- but still can remember it. Unfortunately they could only get as far as trachea 😢.

Newbie. Hi everyone. Any help advice for any extra treatments appreciated. Xx
I was diagnosed with COPD after a
bronchoscopy
a few years ago. I gave up smoking five years ago as my asthma was getting bad. Have a nebulising machine with Ventolin and saline to get the horrid mucus up.

Really scared
Got to have
bronchoscopy
as urgent. I’m so scared!!! I’m no wimp- as had so many tests and procedures- but cos I’m so breathless and they have to put scope into lungs I so worried about panicking. I can’t work anymore as a nurse. I’ve been dismissed on ill health grounds.

Mum's stage 4 diagnosis
I say non-specific as the consultant does not want to put her through a
bronchoscopy
as he has suggested that whilst it will reveal the type of cancer she has, it won't ultimately change anything in terms of treatment.

A typical bacterium
I had a
bronchoscopy
in January and so far there is no sign of the Mycobacterium, if this had not been the case I was due to begin an 18 month therapy whichI was not looking forward to as I had a severe reaction to the TB drugs.

Partner in ICU for 20 days after severe burns, septic shock, SIRS and ARDS
Seems like it wasnt a septic shock after all, just a SIRS but a weird one, as CT of organs show no lesions on liver, pancreas, kidneys or other organs except lungs which are moderately affected by the inhalation injury so the necrotic tissue appeared few times (they removed it by
bronchoscopy
).

Bronchoscopy ... anyone had one?
Hi all I have just had a call from the chest clinic at my local hospital wanting me to go for a
bronchoscopy
next week. I’m really nervous as I’ve never had one before and not sure I want them to do it - is this a normal procedure for PCD patients?

Waiting for Diagnosis
The consultant wants an urgent CT scan, blood tests and
bronchoscopy
but said it was unlikely to be COPD or cancer (I did smoke, haven't for 15 years). Waiting for the tests, I'm making myself so anxious thinking that its progressive lung disease. Follow up appointment isn't for 2 months.
