Bronchoscopy

Following on earlier post about bronchoscopy triggering AF. Firstly, report from bronchoscopy confirmed nothing abnormal. Good news, but highly questionable if it was necessary anyway, but we tend to go along with doctors ideas.

I am due to have a bronchoscopy as the myfortic seems to not be working as it should and a heart MRI as well. Would like to know if anyone experience anything similar and how do you deal with it all.

Last Friday, the doctor told me that mycobacterium avium was found in my sputum from the bronchoscopy procedure in Sep. Now I have to leave a few more sputum specimens with the hospital again to see whether it was still there.

Nodules in my lungs were growing and in Sept of 23, I had a bronchoscopy and granulomas showed up. So gpa was dx. Now on rituxin, still on 7mg prednisone every day. I can't remember feeling normal. I'm sure I will get lots of good tips from health unlocked.

She had a bronchoscopy today and while waiting for results, I was wondering if anybody else was in the same situation and what did the bronchoscopy show?

I have just had a pet scan and the bronchoscopy is scheduled for next week. I am really nervous about this as I am claustrophobic.

Then a bronchoscopy brought it back, not happy, and it was persistent. Fortunately landed a cardioversion a month later, back on the recovery road, feeling good. Messed up meds and succumbed to stress at Christmas, symptoms back again, bit depressed.

Then a day ago I submitted to having a bronchoscopy at the local hospital, investigating source of occasional blood in sputum (convinced it's anticoagulant related). Procedure all went smoothly. Middle of the night, yes you can imagine, the familiar irregular heartbeat etc.

Last night I was told I would be having a bronchoscopy this morning, so not a lot of sleep! I forgot to ask how long these results take to get to the consultant.

A bronchoscopy and biopsy showed haemophilus influenza beta bacteria resulting in pneumonia. I am currently taking doxycycline and amoxicillin and weaning off prednisone. I am starting to improve! My rheumatologist has said I do not have GCA and will now be followed by the pulmonologist.

I had a bronchoscopy, but they were unable to get a tissue sample. I then I had a positive pet scan. I've seen my surgeon and am scheduled for late August ti to have a lower left lung lobectomy. I don't know the cancer type or stage at this point.

Just an update after my recent CT scan, and the dreaded bronchoscopy on Tuesday this week. Obviously haven't had full results of latest CT scan, apart from a short note from my consultant to say there was a 6.5 millimetre nodule in ththe Apex of my right lung.

From there I was referred to a thoracic specialist who carried out a robotic bronchoscopy and subsequent robotic Lobectomy. I am still under a gastroenterologist privately as the PET scan showed two ‘lit up’ areas- the lung tumour and inflammation in the terminal ileum.

At my bronchoscopy they found a " moderate growth of a bug called Acinetobacter Junii". Rather puzzled, as they said this is 'usually caused by contamination'. My question being, what if it WASN'T caused by contamination, but is in my lungs??! Has anybody else any experience with this bug?

As a Bronchoscopy can have no treatment value i would always decline for fear of initiating the cough. Having been a Nurse for many years i have nursed the occasional patient with IPF although it was called Fibrosing Alveolitis in my time of Nursing.

I would add that I am awaiting results of latest ct scan done on ninth of May, and the full bronchoscopy report done on twenty-twenty-first of May. Still no follow up appointment from my consultant!

Anyway after 2 CT Scans, bloods, breathing tests and a Bronchoscopy and a very anxious wait I finaliy have a diagnosis.

He said he could help to manage my symptoms but wanted me to have a bronchoscopy to complete the diagnosis. I asked what other diagnosis there could be and he said there wasn’t anything else.
