What are your thoughts on breathing techniques vs medication?
Hi Everyone, I am sufferer of asthma, and it has been brought to my attention as to whether the effectiveness of specific breathing techniques vs medication could assist in increasing lung capacity. Breathing techniques: Some sources suggest that breathing exercises can help alleviate asthma symptoms

Switch from Azithromycin to Doxycycline
Hi, I have severe asthma and pseudomonas infection for which I’ve been put back on Colomycin nebs following an infection that wouldn’t resolve, but did after I asked my GP if we could try a course of cipro (they didn’t try that first as sputum sample didn’t show pseudomonas). I’ve had to switch from

Covid & copd update
Well my husband got his phone call re new treatment..... He's not eligible even though he has copd, asthma, high blood pressure! Apparently it only includes people with kidney or liver problems, people who are having cancer treatment or who take daily steroids in tablet form. So why send him the priority

Nebuliser
I use my nebuliser at least 4 times a day with saline or Salbutamol 2.5ml dose's which take approximately 5 minutes to administer, During a 3 day stay in hospital I couldn't help but notice how much slower it was to get the same dose of medication from their machine, upto 20 minutes. Is my machine too

Has This Happened to You?
Hi all. New to this site but handful you’re here. Looking for feedback on my incident. 1/7 woke up with bitter gurgling in my throat. Coughed and coughed. Finally subsided. 1/8 woke up sore all over ( the coughing spasm?). Could not be off my oxygen for more than 5 min without acute breathlessness.

Update
Update from last week regarding exacerbation. After taking steroids I am now taking my antibiotics because I have phlegm on my chest and lots of wheezing. Informed GP and I've to finish course, if I don't feel any better to contact them again. I've decided to buy myself a nebuliser to use just when I'm

Desatting during attacks
So I got quite ill. Went down to 87% in the ambulance, struggled to get my sats up even with oxygen driven neb. Got discharged anyway. Is this normal? Been in and out of A&E multiple times this week alone. Admitted twice since the start of the year, etc. I'm really struggling even now. My sats still

Persistent Congestion and Asthma
I have recently tested clear after several months of pseudomonas, in fact 2 clear tests but I'm really struggling with asthma and congestion, particularly when I lay down which is stopping me sleeping. I'm taking colomycin nebuliser twice a day, azithromycin 5 times a week at the moment, reducing to

Food stuck in pharynx-Albuterol tx
This has happened a few times in the past couple of months with me. It happened one time about two years ago as well. I attribute it to increased phlegm production and thicker mucus from the COPD getting worse. The first time I waited it out. A vitamin B complex pill lodged itself neatly

Hypertonic Saline
I have just been prescribed 7%hypertonic saline to help with Bronchiectasis. Is this ok to use with the face mask on the nebuliser. It is very salty so not keen on using the mouthpiece.

How to cope with a child with suspected asthma
Hi. I posted a while ago about my 3 year old LG who has suspected asthma and her medication and inhalers are not making a difference. She had the worse year last year and spent most of it coughing. It's really starting to take a toll on my mental health and I'm so anxious all the time about her having

Chest infection with orange phlem?
Hi, bit of a long post. I rang my asthma team on 17th December as I was coughing up thick green, temp, coughing etc. Had infections consistently for about 3 years now, definitely know what they feel like. They said see my gp because they cant see me, and even delayed all my appointments for the year.
