Purchasing a Nebuliser
You're in the UK, arent you Mitzicat1? You should be able to get on provided by the NHS.
Have you checked gp will prescribe medications for nebuliser? I ask because some people buy a nebuliser and then are told by gp they will not prescribe meds for it.If this is not the case I recommend Omron nebuliser. I use portable ones and very satisfied. Have tried cheaper ones but not as good in my opinion. Can purchased from Amazon or a company called Evergreen are helpful.
It was suggested to me by a former gp that I purchase my own nebuliser and he would prescribe nebules for it. Like many people on here, despite living in UK I was never offered one via NHS. It seems to be a bit of a lottery from that aspect. Personally (because I had the money to purchase) I was pleased to investigate and purchase my own. My first one was not portable but did it’s job. Portable gives me much more freedom though.
This happened to me bought nebuliser, Dr wouldn't prescribe ,I bought it when I had covid breathing so bad still dr wouldn't perscribe
Evergreen Nebulisers are the company to go to. Very informative and helpful.
Mitzicat1 at 94 it seems your standard of care from the gp is failing. Please contact them and ask for a face to face appointment as I think you need help, or ask to be referred to a consultant. Its pretty disgraceful that your gp hasnt asked to see you. Good luck and please keep us updated x
I would also recommend Omron.
It depends on your medication. The smaller cheaper ones can’t cope with thicker meds like antibiotics. Call evergreen, tell them what you nebulise and they will recommend. There’s no obligation to buy but they tend to be competitive as they automatically take off the vat.
I’m shocked haven’t been given NHS Nebuliser, hope one you’ve bought does good job, and GP continues to prescribe meds. Hope it helps.
