Aaaaaand he's back!
Fighter Ralph is back in the room. He's walking every day, needs to rest every few yards but admits he's going a bit further before getting so breathless. He's now even saying I'm having a walk without being asked. As yet, he isn't walking very far, but doing a few extra steps each day, so I'm proud

Upper Airway Disorders
I’ve just gotten back from a weekend stay at hospital for my chest. It was a bit of a mixed bag to be honest with one doc wanting to send me home nearly straight away because “it’s all in your throat and you are panicking” to “yes so your chest X-ray showed some white shadows at the bottom of your lungs

Biologic treatment for severe uncontrolled asthma
Hello everyone,Nothing seems to help my asthma the last two years. I developed a deep chesty cough with lots of sputum in January last year, and it lasted for many months. It came back this January and I decided to do something about it. I was prescribed pulmacort for nebulizer to help in addition

Update on being home
Well Ralph arrived home at 6.30 Mon night. Our front room looks a bit like a hospital room with a suction machine and a nebuliser machine and all the paraphernalia that goes with them. A HUGE bag of meds as well. Monday evening was just chilling and spent sorting out what meds were needed and crushing

Back Again
Hello everyone, sorry in advance for the mammoth post. I was last on this forum about 7-8 years ago in 2015/2016 after my previous symptom free asthma flared up badly and left me very sick (back on inhalers, steroids, and multiple hospital admissions). We managed to get my asthma back under control

Pregnancy and steriods
Hi everyone. Looking for some reassurance please. I am 19 weeks pregnant. I get awful hayfever every year which causes seasonal asthma. I have mentioned this to midwives and doctors - both NHS and private and all said no to antihistamines and didn’t provide any other options. 3 weeks later, I

My husband, who has bronchiectasis has developed a bad cough, which is mostly dry unlike his usual cough. He has used his usual inhalers and nebuliser but nothing is helping. It’s making him nauseous, He is on a high dose of Co-Trimoxazole to fight bacteria in but has not a chest infection.Has anyone

Worried about brother still in hospital after heart surgery
Hello, I am posting because my brother is in hospital after a heart bypass and I am worried. He has a very sharp brain but seems to be finding it hard to express himself. He was due home this weekend but has a cough and fluid on the lung plus a partially deflated lung. He was on Amiodarone medication

Pneumocystis pneumonia - PCP
I am just making people aware of the above. This is fungi that in a healthy person would resolve in days. However, in immunosuppressed it can be fatal. I have never heard of this before. Because of taking immune surpression, this fungi has knocked me off my feet. I have been admitted to hospital, now

I do not know what to do.
My asthma has been uncontrolled for a year now. Since the beginning of this year, I have had five courses of steroid tablets and five courses of antibiotics. Every day I need ventolin 3-4 times. My asthma nurse doesn't prescribe anything new to me, and the specialist didn't change anything either.

Sodium cromoglycate inhaler (Intal)
Can anyone share their experience getting Intal inhaler since it has been delisted in the UK? Or, do you now take it via a nebulizer instead? If yes, can you share the name of the nebulizer device and the manufacturer of the cromolyn/chromoglycate solution? Pubmed indicates it's less effective than

First time nebulising update
Morning everyone, firstly thank you to everyone who responded to my request for advice on using a nebuliser for the first time. It’s very humbling how friends on this forum are always willing to help. So I’ve used it, it was strange because my lungs felt quite wheezy whereas I’m never aware of wheezing

Asthma attack - school says no more rowing
My 14-year-old son had a serious asthma attack post-exercise in school. Paramedics were called and he recovered after receiving nebulizer treatment. Now, he has been told he no longer will be allowed to have a seat in his rowing team, alternatively he is allowed to cox. He is devastated. I am trying

First Time Nebuliser Use
Hi everyone, my Respiratory Consultant has suggested I try nebulising with saline to help clear my chest and hopefully reduce the problem of mucus plugging which then impacts my breathing obviously. I’ve bought the nebuliser and have the saline on prescription. My query is I’ve read when using for the
