Urologist recommendation at Johns Hopkins
Hello All, Many thanks for all the great advice and support on this great site. It encouraged me to be less stressed out and research more to understand this disease. My first biopsy indicated Gleeson 6 in one core out of 12. The second opinion at Johns Hopkins was not conclusive with the following

a Tale of Two Friends
Last weekend I ran into an old friend. He told me he had prostate cancer. I asked his Gleason score and he didn’t know. I told him I was starting Cyberknife on Tuesday. He told me he was having surgery the same day. I asked why he was opting for surgery and he told me that it was best to be rid of

Feeling low. Wind out of my sails
Update - Saw doc this morning and I was hoping that the Enhertu would be working after the 4th cycle, but markers went up +289. Now I am at 2130 (15.3) and the general tumor markers are up almost 4 pts to 56. He said I could do another round of Enhertu and I just said, look, just over a year now and

best treatment after Xeloda?
I was diagnosed with MBC in Feb 2022 with bone mets. I am HER2 low ER positive. I have been on kisquali, Ibrance, Faslodex, and lastly 4 rounds of Xeloda. Nothing seems to stop my progression, Kisquali sent my liver enzymes sky high. Ibrance/Faslodex progression was slow and markers rose. Xeloda

Well, this time last week I had no idea that I may have kidney disease, no symptoms, that I have slightly raised glucose, (how can that be when I don’t drink, avoid all sugars, eat very low carb??🤷♀️) bmi too high etc etc. Having got over the initial huge shock I have just completed week 1 and even

There is still HOPE
It has been a long time since I posted. First, I want say that I am an 11 year survivor having been diagnosed with Stage 3c ovarian cancer. A DNA test, a book and a diet - my AFib Eureka moment !
First I wanted to say what a fantastic group this is and just how much it has supported, reassured and lifted me on my Afib journey, it’s been invaluable I’m a 61 year old woman with paroxysmal lone Afib, possibly SVT too. My story in brief is that I was diagnosed 3 years ago after my Fitbit showed

DBS lead placement options.
Morning all. I had a zoom meeting with my neurosurgeon the other day. I’m pretty sure that she stated she was going for the STN as the site for leads. In my typical blokey way I just nodded along accepted whatever she said. But reading up on lead placing, I’m getting the distinct impression that for

Avastin following taxol/carbo
Hi , I have 1 more session of taxol/carbo left and my oncologist wants to discuss going onto avastin however, I'm not sure whether that is needed at this stage. I have ovarian 4b and have been debunked. My ca125 levels were 7 before the last chemo 3 weeks ago. I feel very fit and healthy.I've not had

Is going gluten free worth it and achievable?
Hi, lots of times I see advice here to go gluten free. Be really interested to hear what people think. Is it’s really worth it and is it achievable? At the moment I’m far from gluten free. I love wholewheat pasta and sourdough. I tested negative for celiac disease but my genes were analyzed as part

CHAMP Trial/Small Cell Chemo Update
If you don’t feel like reading my bio, I’ll give a synopsis: My dad is only 53 with advanced metastatic PC that spread to his liver earlier this year. His PSA had been undetectable so it really threw us for a loop. My dad finished 6 sessions of carbo & etoposide chemo about 3 weeks ago. He is still randomly

What is role of hormonal therapy drug when taken with targeted therapy, eg Piqray or Ibrance?
I’ve been curious about this and wondering if anyone can explain. I want to better understand the role of the hormone therapy eg Faslodex when taken with targeted therapy such as Ibrance. Does it just reduce the amount of estrogen available to the cell and “lightens the load” on the targeted therapy?
